The herbs, vegetables and fruits on the community allotment are doing well - but there are still a few parts where the weeds are winning! So we showed the weeds that it was thyme to to 'beet it!' The sun shone and we had to soften the ground by watering it first in order to get at the roots. We filled 2 bags with the weeds and left this part of the plot clear and ready for planting - lettuce celebrate!

Woke up this morning to the sound of rain, my garden needed it, not sure that's the same for Miss E's. I was greeted by brambles upon open the back door. It'll take a lot of work to make this garden smile, but Miss E was smiling when I left because now she could open the open the door without being attacked by the trees!

There was a good turn out today of GG, BBOWT and Friends of Haymill volunteers.
We set off to establish camp near the dam in the stream and then divided into a small group clearing branches and other debris from the stream, whilst the rest of us grabbed loppers, rakes, slashers, scythes and hoes to cut the overgrowth invading the path.
Seeing the path edge reappear was 'instantly gratifying'. There was even time for one volunteer to do a quick litter pick too.

Georgetta and Jess visited Mr S to make a start on clearing his garden. He provided some tools, and we got to work!
It is a mammoth task, but we feel like we made a good start and cleared the pathways and a good section of the lawn. Although plenty of scratches, stings and prickles were acquired!!
We enjoyed seeing all the bees in the garden and it was a bit of a shame to be cutting back the brambles they were enjoying but Mr S needs his space back!!
