Five goodgymers ( Caprice, Daryl, Eleanor, Ross and Janet) met for a short run to the carehome for our monthly visit and were joined there by Keith. We arrived hot and sweaty and ready for a summer-themed quiz, written by Caprice this time. Regular resident quizzers Vicky, Jess, Phyllis and Joyce were joined by Daryl, Janet and Keith to make 'The Hot and Sweaty Brainiacs', while Ross and Eleanor joined regular quizzers Janet, Sandra and Beryl, as well as first-timers Linda and David as the aptly named 'The Winners'. After a very tricky music round, all were glad to face twenty questions of trivia. The teams were well matched with their knowledge of UK beach resorts, but The Winners took it all with their knowledge of the Dogstar. The final round on summer animals also sorted The Winners from The Brainiacs, with a little help from crocodiles, hedgehogs and three-legged crows. We look forward to returning in September.

So tonight's session was a little bit different to our usual quiz. The GoodGymers were expecting to just meet the residents for a 'social' but on arrival, the residents were keen to have a quiz. So much so, that one of the residents came prepared with some paper, a pen and an old Mastermind quiz that she had found in newspaper which she was saving for a rainy day. Perfect! (and it was raining, literally!) Everyone moved into the lounge where Daryl and Janet got to making everyone a cuppa. Even the biscuit tin got cracked open! After a bit of a natter the room split into two teams, Caprice, Keith and Janet joining Team A and Chloe joining forces with the ladies (and Brian) Daryl being the good sport that he is nominated himself as Quizmaster, carefully choosing appropriate questions from the bumper newspaper quiz. There were some pretty tricky questions this month but both teams did incredibly well. The ladies team scoring 9/20 but the winners this month were Team A scoring a decent 13/20. Well done to Daryl for his efforts and thanks to Abbeyfield for welcoming us. We really do love our visits and it's clear to see that we were missed last month. Due to popular demand it looks as though we will be back in one month. We hope to see you there!

Instead of a quiz this month at Abbeyfield Wessex, the GoodGymers got down to a spot of DIY. Firstly Eleanor, Mohammed, Daryl and Caprice met for the short Group Run to the session. Like true British weather they had a bit of drizzle for the run but it didn't dampen their spirits. They were met by manager Nicky who prior to their arrival had prepped three benches ready for sanding and a new coat of paint. She also showed them two gazebos that needed to be erected. Luckily the rain stopped as quickly as it had started but Nicky had the great idea to build the gazebos and then if it rained they could use them as a shelter, genius!! Mohammed and Daryl got to work sanding the benches whilst Nicky, Eleanor and Caprice put up both gazebos. Once the gazebos were secured they then joined Mohammed and Daryl with the sanding. Once the benches had been sanded down the group then got to the fun bit... Painting. They love a painting task. After a coat of paint Nicky thanked the group for all their help. We will be back their next month, most likely for a social to spend some time with our good friends. See you there!!
