We are a local network of volunteers initially formed in response to the COVID-19 crisis and now permanent across Merton, Wandsworth and Kingston. We aim to help those in our local community to fight poverty and offer support. We provide food parcels, household goods, furniture and appliances. We also offer laptops through our Keep Kids Connected initiative for children who do not have access to online learning.

Four GoodGymmers joined Dons Local Action Group (DLAG) with the setup for their 5th anniversary, transforming the venue with vibrant yellow and blue decorations. The challenge was to ensure there were enough chairs for the 200 attendees with spaces to move around. Once that was sorted, we embraced the opportunity for creative expression, arranging plates, napkins, and the classic afternoon tea pairing of clotted cream and jam.
A brilliant task for a Sunday afternoon and it was great to meet Keith.

Busy day at Growbaby - lots of broken items needed sorting which ended up with a trip to the tip. Love a good sort out! Kate popped by with bags of clothes and baby equipment she no longer needed.

Some of the team headed along to the DLAG networking event, and were asked to give an impromptu speech about our community work on the fly. Grateful of the opportunity to share joy of fitness with purpose, we were equally inspired hearing about the incredible work Dons Local Action Group does in the area. It was a network-worthy morning, and we are looking forward to getting involved in some of the other projects as soon as we can.

Goodgym Merton and Kingston teamed up and donned their red t.shirts in support of Dons Local Action Group (DLAG); quadrupling efforts braving the Wimbledon chill today. A perfect double date for Valentine's, spreading the GoodGym love (and leaflets!) outside Morrisons. We were keen to share the love beyond just chocolates and flowers, highlighting our community effort and volunteering opportunities with all that would listen. Our mission: to recruit new members to GoodGym Merton. As we chatted to shoppers, explaining our work and the benefits of joining the team we tried not to get caught up in the buzz of Downton Abbey free film tickets!
It was heartening to discover a few people had already heard of GoodGym. One individual who was already a member didn't know of the recently launched Merton area, so it shows the importance of getting out into the community and spreading the word!
We hope this is just the start of a great collaboration with DLAG and we will continue to share the love and make a difference in our community together. A big shout-out to Petra and Mike who were instrumental in making this possible. Happy Valentine's ❤️.

Blessed with sunshine, Petra covered the morning shift on DLAG stall, collecting tinned fruit, tomatoes, fish and cooking sauces. People of Surbiton were very generous, incl our GG Emily, who popped in with some lovely tinned soup.
