Yesterday GoodGym paired up with The Farm Community Kitchen and Food for the Forest to deliver some hearty cooked meals to local residents of Cann Hall who struggle to feed themselves and their families.
The Farm cafe is for the community by the community and have been helping locals for years, right now due to the pandemic they’re providing 300 meals per week delivered via volunteers.
It was a great mission and seeing the faces of grateful people was uplifting!

On Wednesday evening, four hardy Newham Goodgymers - Sharon,Kevin,Hilary and Helen - headed out for another round of meal deliveries provided by the wonderful people at the Farm Community Kitchen in Leytonstone.
Though it’s allegedly ‘Spring’, no one told the weatherman, as the temperature was chilly and the Princes in particular were decked out in their winter coats.
With fewer deliveries than last week, plus navigational experienced gained, the fab four dispatched the deliveries in no time, and were soon headed home to get warmed up!
A nice straightforward task for a Wednesday evening. The task is listed again for next Wednesday 14th - sign up

Five runners and cyclists got together on a warm but grey Wednesday evening to deliver much-needed food parcels to Leytonstone residents sheltering due to Covid-19.
Helen , Kevin, Sharon,Hilary and Rosa from Newham Goodgym met up with Aidan from Islington to deliver meals prepared by the Mutual Aid group Food For The Forest, based at the Farm Community Kitchen on Cann Hall Road.
With about 20 meals to deliver, the team fanned out in all different directions to deliver the parcels on foot and two wheels. Despite a few instances of walking round in circles (looking at you – Helen, Kevin and Sharon!) all parcels got delivered safely with minimum fuss.
As it was a Wednesday night (the traditional evening for a Goodgym Newham task and post-task pub trip) beers and crisps were muted, but sadly on this occasion were not to be. But good things (and beer and crisps) come to those who wait, and with restrictions gradually relaxing, we’ll be getting together for a Goodgym social soon I’m sure.
It was great to take on a task from Food for the Forest, and we look forward to Goodgym continuing to support this great work!
