Great British Scrape Off - We(e) did it

Saturday 30th April 2022

Written by Bristol runner

Another lovely mission at the Hartcliffe City Farm! This time we help freeing the soon-to-be outdoor seating area from weeds. This demanded a lot off arm strength as we scraped off the grass and weeds to reveal the stone work underneath. Next month, the farm will open to the public and we hope to be back before to help getting it ready and shiny for its first visitors.

Great job everyone! Sarah

Tyresome work but in hay spirits nonetheless

Saturday 26th March 2022

Written by Bristol runner

On our second visit at Hartcliffe city farm we continued mucking out the massive barn. As a warm-up for our shoulders and arms, we rolled some heavy (!) truck tyres into a field behind the barn. This proofed to be quite a tricky but fun activity turning the task into a tyre relay race. Shoveling sheep sh** was slightly less exciting but we were all chaffed we actually managed to finish it all and the barn is now ready for a new exciting purpose (rumor has it might turn into a climbing gym (for little ones that is).

Looking forward to being back at the farm soon!

Great job everyone, Sarah

Haying the best time at the new Hartcliffe city farm - its fun, its free, its your farm!

Saturday 19th March 2022

We had an epic first mission at the new Hartcliffe city farm site. 18 Goodgymers turned out, of which 4 people were new to GoodGym. We mucked out a old barn, freeing it from layers of of hay sheep sh**. The manure was so ancient that it didn't even smell of animals anymore (or maybe my nose is to used to these kind of smells). Everyone dug in deep in best spirits and loaded as much muck as possible in the wheelbarrows. These had then to be pushed to the another end of the site, allowing us to not only workout our upper body strength but also get in a decent amount of steps. The second group cleared a field from rubbish, rubble and old palettes to make this area safe of little farm visitors. A few GoodGymers took on the task of constructing a new path (and bridge) leading into the green space. We got an impressive amount done during the mission and Ned from HCF can't wait to have us back next week. And back we will be for sure - the tea and biscuit provision was excellent! And all that fun was FREE so no excuse to not make this a regular outing.

Massive shout out to Ned, Sam and Amy for collecting their first ever GoodGym good deeds with this task.

Great job everyone !
