The Luton Run Fest is coming up soon so it's time to let all the residents know about the road closures for this massive running event.
We'll be back on these roads at full speed in a couple of weekends but tonight it was a steady pace as we went door-to-door delivering letters with all the details for the residents.
Teamwork made the dream work as we sped along the road and delivered hundreds of letters in super quick time!

This week we were tasked with a delivery job, or a few hundred of them!
We were delivering notices to houses and businesses on the route of the Run Fest, Luton's biggest running event, letting them know the road will closed for the morning.
We split into walking and running teams and set off. Walkers started delivering immediately while the runners ran out to the furthest road and worked their way back into town.
Leapfrogging each other along the rows of houses, with 8 people posting we made rapid progress and before long the two groups met in the middle and we had time for a nice deep stretch in the park, plus a cheeky plank!

Three GoodGymers were up early for the 8am meet at Wardown Park to marshal the 5k, 10k and half marathon runners in Luton’s annual running spectacular - Love Luton Runfest.
Donning our hi-vis and armed with the volunteer bags that GoodGym had helped to pack the day before we headed to where we were needed in the park.
Each GoodGym marshal had a crucial role around hardest part of the course (around the last 2km of each race) . Dani was the cheerful guardian of the archway at Wardown House museum. Duncan was the defender of the bollard, stopping any unfortunate accidents by directing runners around. Finally, myself acting as the navigator pointing runners down the correct path toward the water station.
It was amazing to see the Luton spirit of all the runners and their dedication. In fact, most runners clapped or cheered us right back for marshaling the runfest.
Duncan, as the leader of our marshal group, had taken his role with the seriousness it deserves by prepping a boom box with a carefully tailored playlist of bangers to cheer runners along.
The loudest cheers go out to the GoodGym runners participating in the 10k and half marathon flying the GoodGym flag and wearing their GoodGym shirts. Well done everyone and see you next year!

Three GoodGymers spent the morning delivering leaflets to some of the households and businesses affected by road closures for the LoveLuton Runfest later this month. We covered the full Old Bedford Road stretch and added the lower end of Wellington Street for good measure. Some of the GoodGym Luton team will be running, others marshalling, so it’s definitely in our interests to let everyone know about the closures in good time! Now we just have to hope the weather on the day isn’t a repeat of 2021…
