Our vision is ‘… to make Christ known by demonstrating His transforming power in lives and communities’. Short, back and "hides"

Monday 24th June

Written by Wilson

Another lovely session at Shirley Warren Action Church, this time we were tackling the bindwind and a big bush.

The bind weed is everywhere and so tricky to pull out as it winds itself around the other plants but Hannah and Lauren did well!

The big bush/tree has a middle hide area for kids to play in but was all overgrown so Sarah, Ellie and Wilson gave it a short back and sides to tame it a bit!

This evening was also Sarah's 50th Good Deed, and we celebratd by ....er well we forgot.... oopsie. But as Ellie pointed out its better to wear the badge on the 51st task.... otherwise you are wearing it before you have actually completed 50... Well done Sarah 🤩👏

Good seed for the day

Monday 27th May

Written by Ellie (She/her)

Tonight we visited Shirley Warren Action Church for the first time to tackle their community garden. A great task sourced by Wilson. It's a beautiful space with lots of lovely plants and bushes. Unfortunately, the brambles and bindweed had begun a takeover so we needed many hands to make a dent! We were lucky the rain held off and welcomed Hilary for their first task and hope to see them again soon. Stephanie and I set to work at the side of the church clearing an overgrown bank. Meanwhile round the back the rest of team worked on clearing the beds and paving of weeds with Hannah in charge of monster bramble duties. Hannah brought us cake to finish and Steph donated some bananas which we're looking forward to seeing in cake form next week! Well done everyone for making great progress taming this community garden. We are excited to see how much impact we can make on our next visit.

It really was all "Action" at the Church

Saturday 18th May

Written by Wilson

Shirley Warren Action Church has a large garden which has become a little overgrown, Sarah and Wilson spent a lovely couple of hours with Lynette, a church member, weeding and clearing - in a short space of time 5 big green bags were filled. We found all sorts of toys which had come across the fence from the nursery 🐅🥇🏅🐱‍🐉 . It was a satisfying task as we could see we had made a difference. We also got to see some of Will Rosies bigger mosaics! We have booked in to visit again next month on a Monday :)
