More clearing of the planter

Southampton Report written by Lauren

We were back this evening to carry on clearing the planter in the local residential area to help the elderly residents. We cleared alot of brambles and raked back lots of waste. The planter is now nearly ready for digging and shovelling before it can then be replanted The local residents were very pleased and one lady stopped by to thank us which was lovely. We look forward to returning soon

Litter bit of a litter pick!

Southampton Report written by Lauren

Chris ellie and myself met for a small wander and litter pick before heading on to the main session clearing planter. We started at sainsburys and did a small loop around the local area venturing down the alley we have adopted for litter picking which seems to be improving on each visit. We cleared two bags of rubbish and had some great chats! We even made a kitty fwend!

A Ton of Tubs

Southampton Report written by Wilson

The Tubs went to the Pub 😊♻💰 - Last year over £12000 was raised for Macmillan Cancer and at the same time the tubs were recycled - so a double win.

Chuffed to see that the Tub to Pub scheme ran again this year and lovely that the task got sign ups from other areas. As well as the Southampton crew, we had Dave from Portsmouth, Peter from Redbridge and Tracey and Gywn from Derby - a great feeling of a GoodGym team effort - Thankyou!

Between us I think we got 100 tubs to the pub!

Lighting up with leaflets

Southampton Report written by Lauren

From 15th to 24th February 2025, Southampton will be illuminated by City Reflections, a spectacular light trail event. The event is taking place to celebrate people in Southampton who make a difference, big or small. 300 nominations were from the community to spotlight their legends and these people will be featured in an immersive light installation celebrating local heroes, friendly neighbours, and quiet forces for good!

We were tasked this evening with leaflet dropping the area near the end of the light trail route on mansel rd east and evenlode rd. Unfortunately many of the flats on evenlode rd had already had their access turned off for the evening but sarah kathryn chris and i successfully traversed the entirety of Mansel Rd East and delivered lots of leaflets.

I forgot to take a photo (oops!) so heres the one of chris from the litter pick with obligatory shoe again!

Litter bit of picking lots of chat!

Southampton Report written by Lauren

We returned to Mansel Pavillion this evening to carry out a litter pick of the local area before the main leaflet drop session for city reflections.

We were kept entertained with a fascinating range of conversations from Tarek and Chris - we discussed everything from salsa and ballroom dancing to horror shows, meditation, yoga, driving test and japanese food!

Tarek has now honourably known as Chris' can deputy - which has reassured us to know that if ever can man is unable to be present for can duties we have an officially appointed deputee!

We collected 2 bags of litter before starting the main evening session
