Juli, Dominic, Karin, Anna and Sheila met at the amazing Thames Valley Adventure Playground (TVAP). This facility provides safe outdoor and indoor play space for children and adults with any type of disability. Taskowner Alan had a list of jobs for us, which all involved cleaning. Firstly, some fencing at the crazy golf area, which had got covered in moss. We then moved on to cleaning the picnic tables and benches, which were dotted throughout the grounds, plus some wood railings supporting a roof above a swing. Finally we took on a double swing seat. All are now clean and ready for a fresh lick of paint. Great work, team!

Angela and Sheila went to help out in the wonderful Thames Valley Adventure Playground, which provides a safe place to play for children and adults with any type of disability. Our first task was in the Wacky Woods, removing any large stones, slates and bricks from the play area to make it safer for the children. Several bucketfuls later, we had completed the task and rewarded ourselves with a bit of a play on the new seesaw. We then moved on to shifting some earth from alongside the inside fenceline, so that its not so tempting for children to attempt to scale the fence. Although why they would want to escape this amazing space, we could not fathom!

What a marvelous day for a rewarding task. Sheila, Tony, Julie, Diya and Amanda spent a few hours helping the Thames Valley Adventure Park clear up their Wacky Woods ready for the spring season. The task was originally going to be moving compost bins but shifted to become the much more fun task of creating a children's mud pit and leveling out the ground for their picnic benches and mud kitchens. We were grateful to have the strength of Tony and the gardening skills of Sheila and Julie on hand. We achieved so much more than we thought we would and had a great deal of fun doing it. Diya joined us having already done several hours of normal work having started at 7am - very impressive.
We think we made a real difference on this task and hope to be back soon.

Thames Valley Adventure Playground is a charity supporting children and adults with all types of special needs, their siblings, parents and carers. They needed their small, indoor sensory room painting white. Kanika and Sheila cycled to the task, whilst huge kudos goes to Anita for walking all the way there. There we met up with Allora and we also welcomed back Sara doing a bit of GoodGym tourism from Slough. Taskowner Gary let us in at the gate, and explained the task. All the equipment was provided, and we set about putting the dust-sheets down to protect the floor and equipment. And then we were off, re-painting the walls white. Sara was the cutting-in expert, Allora, Kanika and Sheila were expert with the rollers, whilst Anita took on the smaller areas needing accurate brushwork. It didn't take us long to finish the job, and we had plenty of time to clear and and wash-up the equipment. Before we left, Gary treated us to a demonstration of the wonders and capabilities of the sensory room - a truly magical place. Thanks to Gary for inviting us - I'm sure we will make a return visit soon Thanks to Sara for providing this great report title!

Well done to Kanika, Diya, Sheila, Sula, Sara and Hannah, who all joined me for our first session helping at the Thames Valley Adventure Playground (TVAP). This brilliant local charity promises 'a range of adventurous, therapeutic and educational play activities in a safe, caring and stimulating environment' and it didn't disappoint! The target audience is normally children and adults with disabilities and their families rather than us GoodGymers, but that didn't stop us enjoying ourselves.
Thanks to our task owner Gary, who gave us a warm welcome, showed us round and armed us with everything we would need for the tasks.
Sara, Kanika and Diya tackled some painting in the waiting room, ticket office and tunnel/platform for the imaginary TVAP train. Left to their own devices I was a-freight they might go off the rails, but it was all white, previous painting missions have given them lots of train-ing and the finished result was very a-track-tive!
Meanwhile the rest of us got busy deep cleaning the soft play and sensory room. Nevermind team GB, this was an opportunity for team GG to shine! Like star gymnasts, Sheila gave a clean performance on the floor and Hannah showed her attention to detail on the high bars. Sula's speed climbing demonstration was extremely polished and I almost resembled a slow motion replay from the bmx as I wiped out on the slide. It was dust the job!
As far as group runs go, the 'get fit' side of this one was relatively relaxed - a refreshing power walk along the Jubilee River in the rain, with some stretches afterwards back at TVAP.
The TVAP site is extensive, so we hope to be back soon for more painting, cleaning and adventure.

Four goodgymers helped set up the route for a family walk organised by Thames Valley Adventure Playground. We were tasked with setting up the stations that would have activities for each family to do. on their walk around the lake. Tara and Stephan were ably assisted by a resident crocodile in erecting the start and finish gazebos. Kanika and Amy flew around the 5km rowing lake on their bikes having already cycled from Maidenhead, but they were not too tyred to cycle home again.
