Voices of Hope

To restore and rebuild hope in individuals, improving their physical and mental health through undertaking community-based projects.

Voices of Hope is a locally founded charity in Kingston Upon Thames with a focused reach into SW London. We are dedicated to bringing hope to individuals and the wider community, improving physical and mental health through community-based projects.

We work with people struggling with complex physical and/or mental health issues, families experiencing food insecurity, women who have experienced abuse/domestic violence, and the elderly. We see those we reach as people who need support, encouragement and empowerment โ€“ not as problems which need solving.

12 GoodGymers have supported Voices of Hope with 17 tasks.

Written by Jeanette McCready

We helped move a bulk crate delivery of tins of pulses and tomatoes, together with blocks of cheese and butter from the ground floor to the Church upstairs. This was in preparation for Brite Box filling tomorrow.

Brite Boxes on a โ€˜Bright-ishโ€™ day โ˜€๏ธ๐ŸŒง

Friday 28th August 2020

I made my way to Kingston Gate Church to help the other volunteers with Bright Boxes - I completed a 5k walk there this time!

Bright boxes are a fab idea! They are boxes which provide ingredients and recipes to local families, to enable them to cook healthy meals.

I spent the time making up boxes with another volunteer, we chatted and joked about our high efficiency... and joked about turning it into a career.

Task went well and I look forward to getting involved again in future! ๐Ÿ˜

Boxed out!

Friday 21st August 2020

I started this mission by trying to locate a bus stop (it was suppose to be a run or walk... but long story).

I made my way to Kingston Gate Church to help the other volunteers move Bright Boxes.

Bright boxes are a fab idea! They are boxes which provide ingredients and recipes to local families, to enable them to cook healthy meals. They get a nutritionist seal of approval from me!

On arrival I provided with hand sanitiser and a thermometer. Hand sanitised and a temperature of 36.4 ยฐC, I was then able to get stuck in!

I helped move some of the boxes and got stuck in with making up empty boxes for next weeks boxes (and chatted away...).

I really enjoyed being involved in this, we had a great production line going and I look forward to returning in the future!

Boxing Champions! ๐Ÿ“ฆ๐Ÿ†๐ŸฅŠ

On a hot and sweaty Friday we were glad to find the lift working at the Voices of Hope Centre for us to help move boxes from the third floor down to the ground floor and load them into the vans for their delivery. It was amazing to see the mountains of boxes stacked up to be given to those most vulnerable people in need of food in Kingston. We are grateful to help such a fantastic project to pack boxes of food for families in our area. Come out to join us next Friday where more help will be needed! ๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿผ๐Ÿ“ฆ

From onions to oranges

Monday 27th July 2020

Written by Windsor and Maidenhead runner

A rainy cycle over to Kingston to help Voices of Hope (VoH) at KingsGate Church. A straightforward task, helping the team shift many boxes of donated food from their lobby into their food stores two storeys up. VoH will use this as best they can to cook up fresh meals for the most vulnerable in the borough.
