A GoodGym super team of 6 gave up their time to litter pick on this sunny sunday morning. Joining forces with the ‘Friends of Dallow Downs and Winsdon Hill’ community group, we worked together for an hour and a half to clear the area of as much rubbish as we could bag up. Unusual finds this morning included an abandoned fridge freezer full of murky swamp water, a huge flatscreen tv, parts of a bed and many of the usual. Beer cans, drinks bottles, plastic and remnants of food packaging. Clearing this litter away will make a huge difference to the local park users and wildlife. Great work, team!!!

Seven Goodgymers were grateful to have an indoor task on a cold and wet morning! We met up at the Level Trust to tackle a mountain of donated school uniform and to put together a new adjustable table to be used by the Trust’s regular crew of volunteers.
With guidance from Kim and Elaine from the Trust, three of us got to work on the donations and the remaining four picked up their Allen keys and made short work of the table, impressively only making one small mistake (and it was easy enough to take off the legs and put them back on again the right way round…)
Great teamwork as ever and a warm welcome to Fatima who completed her very first good deed with Goodgym!
We’ll be back again soon!

This week's Group Run took us on a 4km journey out of town to the Stony Hill nature reserve.
But first we welcomed Zainab and Daneal to their first session warmed up and made sure everyone had lights before we headed out into the dark night.
On arrival at Stony Hill we split up into three groups and spread out around the small nature reserve, just big enough to lose sight of eachother between the trees. We collected up nine bags full of litter from the field, the hedgerow and among the trees. Just as we finished we all assembled accidentally under an apple tree, with its red fruits still hanging on leafless branches and shining out in the darkness 🍎 so we took a moment to enjoy a fresh, cold and sweet apple each to restore our energy for the return run back into town.
