We started this week with a good GGSHF cheer for three new runners. Please welcome and cheer;
This week we also welcomed Lucy who was a trainer in LDN who has made the move up to the mighty Steel City along with boyfriend Paul who also used to be a trainer in LDN, look forward to seeing more of you both soon!
We were back off up to Lynwood Gardens last night to help REGATHER with the maintenance that is required to keep this fantastic community space (which includes a woodland kindergarten). This weeks tasks included;
Everyone got really stuck in, Chris, Dan & Chris commitment on the wheelbarrows was incredible, running full barrows up and down the hills to supply the spreaders with a steady supply of the chip!
After a good session we downed tools and headed in the direction of home. On route back we used and underpass for some paired high knees/wall sit action and threw some extended loops, stair sets and loop back on for good measure.
On return to base we stretched off, heard the latest and showed our appreciation to Chris who will be away now for a little while until Nov, best of luck Chris, look forward to having you back.
Until next time, happy running!

On a glorious sun shining evening we welcomed no less than FOUR new @GGSHEFF runners. Big cheers for;
Hope you all enjoyed it and will be along in future weeks!
After welcoming our new runners and doing are standard count up, brief and group photo we headed up into the centre of town to the rear of the Winter gardens with some circular squats and stair sets thrown in to keep the group together over the traffic lights.
At the winter gardens we met Gareth, Doug and Tim from the REGATHER team who along with our GG Task Force Team captains Kim, Sam and Steve would help us co-ordinate and assemble three big marquees ready for Sheffield Food Festival where REGATHER will be doing all sorts of non for profit pay as you feel foody activities to engage the local public in sustainable and local food!
By the end of the eve the three marquees were all beautifully erect with poles all in the correct places, bungees lashed down tight and water buts ratcheted to ensure nothing gets blown away.
Well that was pretty intense.... - Steve Gilmer
With time pretty tight we only had time for a quick group abs session on the nearby grass consisting of;
We head home and stretched off on the grass before hearing the latest news which included Sam reaching 200 good deeds and Steve reaching a huge 250! Massive congrats to you both!
Until next time, happy running :)

Proving once again that GGSheff ain't no party poo-pers, twenty-five GGSheffers made their way to Heeley City Farm last night to display maximum Goodness. We welcomed Cerowyn (referred to us by our old pal Shona), a new runner and also welcome back many recent joiners so it's good to see we haven't scared anyone off! After a quick debrief, an explanation of the running drills and count off, the team headed out on the 2km trip.
On the way out, we made sure to listen out for the whistle - one toot for fast feet, two toots for super slow running (just like Baywatch!) to practice our form and build core strength. We did squats at red lights and walked across the road in our best Emperor penguin impressions to build up some of our running muscles.
On arrival, Julie from Heeley City Farm met us at the entrance to explain our jobs. The farm had recently had to make a member of the team redundant so we took over some of the jobs that he would normally have done all on his own - bag up leaf mulch read for sale, move some manure and turn over another manure pile. The whole team worked really well together despite a few cramped spaces proving once again how much a group of good people can do in a short space of time. As we were all knee deep in the task it was suddenly time to start packing away and we left the farm neat and tidy, just as we'd found it.
After a few words from Julie, a photo with the big pig and a some hand scrubbing it was time to head back to base. In a change to the normal intense work out provided by Tom, we assembled on the green for a yoga practice showing the whole city our Downward Dog and Warrior poses before a good stretch off and round up of the week.
Thanks to Chris D and James for being solid back markers! See you next week :)
