On a cold but clear days 8 Liverpool Goodgymers headed over to Delamere. Many thanks to Heetu and Liam for organising and providing lifts there and back.
Delamere Forest was hosting the Delamere 10k and half marathon trail run.
It was such a beautiful course through the woods around the lake and an absolutely amazing view in the last mile looking out on the forest we had run through. Yes the view came with a sting in the tail of a hill the length and steepness of which we just don't have in our city - kudos to Vikky, Steph and Chris for running up it.
The atmosphere was amazing - so friendly and sociable which is just like Goodgym Liverpool so we fitted right in. A hilly trail is so different to a flat road run and everyone ran well and strong - for some it was their first (of I'm sure many ) 10k , for others it was a training run for upcoming half marathons and shout out to Chris for completing the trail half in preparation for a marathon.
The support of the whole group was second to none and for anyone wanting to try out a run whether its the local parkrun, one of our social evening runs or a group run to task Id really recommend signing up and being part of the fabulousness. Several of us finished our morning with a well deserved brunch back on home turf at The Third cafe and Roz got us all thinking about future run events
Special thanks to Aditya for choosing this run and encouraging it to be listed.

It was Sunday morning in Liverpool and the Goodgymers were going to be busy today. There was an all day event organised for Car Free Day in one park The NHS games happening in the morning in another park and a 10k race happening in nearby Warrington.
Whilst Ema set up and kept the stall going at Car Free Day 5 Goodgymers (Amina Chris Eileen Heetu and Sallyann) went to help out at NHS games. we had been asked to help out at this two run events a 5k and a children's 1k which was organised for staff from the local NHS trusts.
The fabulous 5 or as someone called us Goodgym Kings and Queens were given the task of marshaling the courses. As we had plenty of time we walked a lap of the 2.5 lap route and gave us a chance for a chat together Eileen is part of the Parkrun volunteer team and as this 5k was using the same route it have Eileen a chance to share her knowledge with us.
it's always a pleasure to marshal and today was no exception. So many smiling faces despite the hills. Everyone achieved the 5k and were awarded medals (including two dogs).
After the 5k it was time to start the 1k... we had to run back to our marshal positions fortunately getting there in time. The children flew past with several parents having to work hard to keep up. Before we knew it it was over.
it was such a lovely thing to be involved with we all really enjoyed it. Thank you for the invite.
We left the park to reconvene over at our next task where Ema was holding the fort.
... oh and that Warrington 10k our Goodgymer Roz cheered on by her Mum and Goodgymer Jo only went and ran her legs off and came in with an exceedingly good time and a smile on her face. Well done Roz.

On a pleasantly cool Saturday morning, 6 goodgymmers descended on Princes Park bright and early to take on Parkrun.
After seeing a last minute call out for volunteers due to a shortage, Sallyann kindly forwent her morning run to step up as a marshal. After taking the obligatory 'before' group photo with the parkrun sign, we headed off to the start/assigned marshalling position.
The paces may have varied wildly (one individual commented on how another member had lapped them with the ease of a cyclist freewheeling down a hill!) but before the clock struck 10, we had all smashed out a 5k and taken the 2nd obligatory photo of the morning - our post run red (but happy!) faces.
Whilst a couple of people headed off to check out the nearby Granby St market, 4 of us meandered down to Lark Lane for a much deserved breakfast!

This week we returned to the old baths on Lodge Lane and to that bramble that defeated us a couple of weeks ago.
Five goodgymers met on Lodge lane in the sweltering heat to help clear the site of the old baths ready for a mural painting. We hacked through brambles and buddleja, only to reveal mountains of rubbish (9 wheelie bin size bags full!)
Eventually we rejoiced when we could see the wall that will be used for the mural. Well done team - you made a seemingly impossible task look like a breeze!

It will make the site look so much better & less fly tipping- also it will really help us to have assistance to do this before we start on our mural project

Chris Armitage completed 25 good deeds with GoodGym.
Chris has already done 25 good deeds with GoodGym. Instead of doing anything else, they've used their run to go and help people that need their help; digging, lifting, scraping, clearing, planting and weeding. Stuff that makes this a better place to be.

8 runners/walkers met on a bitterly cold night on Hope Street. After a brisk warm up we meandered through Liverpool's beautiful Georgian quarter to arrive a Faulkner square, where we dis a quick tabata session in the hope it would keep us warm for the task.
Once we arrived at the Women's hospital, we were met by Sallyann who, despite being injured, insisted on lending her (good) hand and even brought cake!
The task was to continue where we left of last time, removing turf around some trees to enable wildflower seeds to be sown. We managed to clear one more tree and weed the two we did last time! Excellent work team!
Special kudos to Chris who completed his 25th good deed today! And to Eimear who reached a grand total of 100!
We'll be sure to be back soon to make sure the project is complete before sewing in March!
