I couldn't be more impressed with my team this week. Stars, absolute stars! Monday really is the best day of the week.
With some of us still sore from Liverpool's Rock'n'Roll Half Marathon on Sunday (not to mention Colin's epic triathlon) the excellent eight took on the longest run possible for our Group Run session. Taking a slight long cut on the way there (that scenic road junction was well worth the detour right?) in total, over 11km was covered in this extra long session (we finished at 20:30, rather than 20:00).
This week's task saw us return to MyClubmoor where they have transformed the shell we saw a few weeks ago into a fantastic community hub. Ahead of the hub's launch on Saturday, Team GG took on shifting rock slabs and rollering blackboard paint (Rocks'n'Rollers geddit?!) on to chipboard in the hub's garden. There was even a bit of spray painting involved but I'm sorry to say that there is no budding Banksy amongst the team - stick to the running lads ;)
After assuring Karen that getting paint on her brand new #RedThunder t-shirt was a right of passage she took these words to heart and while painting a chip board in record time, left no surface of her own body unscathed by black paint!
On the way home (the right way!) we came through Everton Park to enjoy a panorama of the city at sunset. And there was even a sprint finish amongst some of the die-hards. And while I have the sorest legs I've ever had as a result of running 11km the day after a Half Marathon, believe me when I say I wouldn't have missed it for anything. You lot did yourselves - and me! - proud.
Shout-outs go to newbie Rebecca who, if she's started out how she means to go on, has the potential to be a really great runner and was a lovely edition to the team. And to Pauline for being an absolute trouper!
Make the most of your bank holiday next week when we'll be near Lark Lane flyering for an innovative charitable-giving scheme called Be One Percent. If time is on our side, we'll have a little fitness sesh in Sefton Park as well. So SIGN-UP you noodle!
Until then (after some proper recovery time!) keeeeeeep running, Char <3

11 runners ran 4.7km to tidy up a community sports centre in Kensington.
On another blue-skied evening in Liverpool (no really!) our marvellous 11 ran the short stretch to Kensington. On route they tackled a previously unmentioned hill and barely even complained ;)
We quickly reached Jubilee Sports Bank where we were greeted by staff member Laura and a roll of bin bags. Gloves on and the team was ready to go, transforming an outside area by removing many bagsful of litter. In and amongst the plastic bottles and crisp wrappers, a few items of interest were found including a pair of shoes, a hoodie and what was almost certainly a burner phone!
Taking advantage of Jubilee Sports Banks lovely open playing field (sorry again to the hay fever sufferers) we had a slightly chaotic fun fitness session, (very) loosely based on the Eurovision Song Contest – go team Spain! – followed by some speed play.
On the downhill route home Tony led us on a scenic long-cut, rounding off a lovely evening.
Shout-outs go to first-timer AJ who kept the pace and got stuck in at the task, and to Colin for volunteering to be our trusty back-marker.
Next week is a longer run of 5km in both directions, but we're extending the session so that more runners can join us. We'll finish at 20:30 meaning that we have 2 hours to complete the run and the task, so if you're a newer runner but up for a challenge don't be put off by the distance. It would be great to have as many pairs of hands as possible as we'll be helping a brilliant community-led project called MyClubmoor. So get signing-up!
Good luck to everyone taking part in the Liverpool Rock’n’Roll Marathon and Half Marathon this weekend. If you're not running, come gives us a cheer #RedThunder.
See you next time, Char <3
