A perfect end to a beautiful springlike day in Bath and a tapering 3k run for 17 tip top athletic team to Manvers baptist church to
white wash
Some walls in the basement for our tip top host Pete.
A huge shout out to Jess and Ed joining us for their first Goodgym run tonight and they did a great job at painting ( well done Ed and Jess!!) Rosie kindly volunteered to do back marking this evening and headcount almost went without a hitch during warm up.
A short run tonight as most of team Goodgym Bath will be taking part in Bath Half Marathon at the weekend, so
Good Luck to everyone running on Sunday
A little bit of speed work on the way to our task destination with a few squats thrown in. We arrived in good time and Pete was ready to get the troops organised with rollers at the ready and a few brushes for cutting in around the woodwork. We had a lesson today on Terrazzo flooring from Pete and Steph, always something to learn in life at Goodgym https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Terrazzo
Working for a solid 40 minutes to include some washing of implements at the end, I think Joe took top prize for most paint applied to the walls and Lydia to the most paint applied to the Terrazzo flooring which was laid in 1900 ( not trying to make her feel guilty or anything) Ed took to the ladder and all the tall jobs and I have to say did a sterling job.
Time for a group photo before leaving with a
Bit of Dabbing
Going on, even Pete was getting into the groove.
He promised to have us back next year, who is he kidding!! See you sooner than you think.
Super short spurt back to base for a stretch out and chat about tonight's Pun,thanks Joe for another Tip Top Pun.
Remember your documents next week for checking and we also have a Saturday run this week with the promise of doughnuts to lure you in at Odd Down
Thanks you super awesome bunch for another amazing evening in Goodgym company.

Flipping Good Night
The last run for February for 17 strong team at Goodgym Bath with a 5 k run to Foodcycle Bath at St Mary`s Catholic Church on Julian road to help them move everything from one storeroom to another. You can find out all about the good they do and get involved http://foodcycle.org.uk/location/bath/
A BIG CHEER for Aaron
our latest new member joining us for tonight’s run. We also have Joseph in camp tonight from Foodcycle so guaranteed not to get lost for this one, well that’s the plan anyway but just to be safe we had my good self back marking. A change to the planned route just to make it a little bit longer on the way out but the promise of a short one back to base after the task, so Steve and sat Nav Joe led the group out this evening.
Well done Emily on her 5k PB at the weekend bagging 3rd Lady ... Whoop!!!
Fiona was our task host this evening was on hand to welcome us and show us exactly what was needed to be done in this 30 minute slot. Two cupboards and full contents needed to be relocated from one building to a freshly painted store room near the kitchen. Lots of shuttling backwards and forwards with stock and two cupboards with Joe organising one end and Carol monitoring the other end. Fiona was busy rustling up some pancakes for the troops with the invitation to have a go at
TOSSING A PANCAKE
Plus they got to eat some protein balls made by Joe, Lucky bunch in Bath with Foodcycle refreshments. Thank you sooo much Foodcycle ... You Rock!!
As always time flies when you’re having fun and it was soon time to make our way back to the leisure centre. A reminder to everyone about bringing along their ID next week if you want to be paired up with your very own running coach, I can thoroughly recommend from my own experience but if you`d like more info speak to Emily or myself. Thanks everyone for another great evening in equally great company. Tonight’s Pun goes to Joe and Mary ... combo.
Look forward to seeing old and new for more action next week.

I don't know if you've ever seen BAMBI ON ICE, if you have then you won't have trouble picturing some of our 12 partyyy goers on the outdoor ice rink in Royal Victoria park. They were certainly eager to get their SKATES ON in more ways than one.
RISK ASSESSMENT- AT YOUR OWN !!! Closely watched by trainer Steph drinking mulled wine and capturing some shots.
Godfather (Discow Dave) hotfooting it from Brizzle to join us and show off his skating skills. Did you know he went to school with Robin Cousins (not sure that helped him tonight) but we allowed him to be delusional.
Emily and Pascale were the first to hit the ice closely followed by Rosie, Mary, Lucy and Steve and they really were all STRUTTING THEIR STUFF and picking up pace as the night progressed. A few tried to P P P P PICK UP A PENGUIN 🐧 but couldn't SEAL THE DEAL (sorry) I believe Steve was using Lucy once or twice to stay up right but she was too fast. Helen proved to be the master on the Ice (she is finish) and was certainly spinning around to the best. Alison arrived in true Goodgym style from her run to join us for some mulled spirit before we headed off to enjoy some DRINKS IN ICE!!
Mary appeared to be taking her time changing into her shoes but finally emerged with STAFF clutching her ice bound wrist looking as white as a sheet, who was she kidding when she said she was ok (no one, I think) Steph using her first aid skills to sling it up (it's been a while) whilst Godfather Dave fetched his trusty chariot and they whisked her off to A and E, where she was speedily seen to and confirmed the worst she had indeed BROKEN HER WRIST.... Ouch!!!
Just enough time to join the others at The Boater for a drink or two. Sam and Irena wishing they'd hit the ice I think (not) and lovely to be joined by Pascale's partner Steve, I can just see him joining Goodgym very soon.
I checked on Mary on the way back home, she was back home plastered up trying to get into a box of wine with one hand... that's my girl.
Thanks for the pun Pascale, possibly the fastest pun ever!! Thanks to Rosie for organising.
I would like to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. A follow up Partyyy will take place in January

A festive 12 Goodgymers came along to tackle one tough hill on our 7k run to Odd Down for party preparations at the community cafe who are hosting a Christmas dinner for the elderly. A great way to bring isolated people together at this time of year.
We used the run out to the foot of the hill to warm up gently tonight before ascending the 169m hill (don't they love me tonight) and we did of course do some walking lunges to regroup once or twice on the way.
Hill out of the way and a chance to catch our breath with some Christmas card writing for Ali who's organised the Christmas lunch and lucky for the group she had already got those sprouts ready, so it took just 10 minutes to get through the pile of cards from writing inside to inserting vouchers and sealing them up. This left time for us to catch up with Felix who will be our task host on January 10th at the cycle circuit and he was keen for the group to take a look at the collection of bikes on offer from specially adapted to road bikes, certain members of the group were like children in a sweet shop(not mentioning any names) but the pictures speak for themselves.
The run back was a more leisurely one back down to the leisure centre, with a sprint finish thrown in for the more energetic members in the group. The stretch out also included the pun discussion with Emily sang out just to seal the deal as they say.
Well done to Pascale on her Marathon in Lanzarote and what a whopper of a medal and Lydia who took part in the Christmas cracker at the weekend.
Don't forget our not so Christmassy gathering on Thursday , do get signed up and show off your skating skills https://www.goodgym.org/parties/goodgym-bath-christmas-party
I would just like to wish everyone A very Merry Christmas and A Happy New year, relax enjoy and see you back on January 3rd.
Ho Ho Ho !!!

A nice little run out for a fabulous 13 at Goodgym Bath tonight flyer dropping for Age uk around some of the doctors surgeries in the city, showing the various services that are provided by Age uk and how to stay warm this winter.
A big welcome to Nicola joining us for her first Goodgym experience so after a bit of Goodgym info on the various ways to get involved from coach runs to group goings on, it was time to drag everyone out into the misty evening to warm up and count numbers before heading out.
Our first port of call was to the Library where we Had some squat magic moments (some may disagree but great to keep those legs strong) but it was closed .. oops!! So quickly moving on up through the streets to St. James's surgery and some flyer hill reps, just because we can and it's great training even without a post box we are not defeated. Then a sweep out to Weston surgery to make our next drop and almost delivered to a poor gentleman living next door (Steph didn't have her glasses on) or was she testing the group, well she is the leader and you know what they say FOLLOW MY LEADER we bid farewell to Lucy on the way back as she peeled off home before making our way down to Monmouth surgery on route back to the leisure centre. A few more goodbyes before a final burst back to the leisure centre trying to avoid the Christmas market all topped off with a sprint finish on the last 100 metres Joe and Alison going head to head and then, stretch and relax... great work from all.
Thanks to Nicola for the Run Pun and Mary for back marking tonight.
Next week is the final run before xmas so get Tinselled Up for this one as we are helping prep for a community party https://www.goodgym.org/happenings/graffiti-removal-in-the-subway
Don't FORGET the XMAS SOCIAL on 15th, Yikes!! That's next week. Goodgym on ICE followed by drinks on ICE, no risk assessment for this one, all I can say is HIGH and at your own but I will be on hand with mulled wine and camera to catch some magic moments so don't miss out https://www.goodgym.org/parties/goodgym-bath-christmas-party
You are all amazing people so keep at it

Subzero temperatures tonight at Goodgym Bath For our fabulous 14 and made of tough stuff runners for a 7k run out to The Nest Project to help sort children's clothes so they can easily distributed to families in the city.
Warm up and headcount out of the way quickly this evening as we have a lot of ground to cover in a short space of time, plus we were all blooming freezing so good to get going. The run out was flat and fulfilling with a few chances to regroup with some functional fitness on route.
Our host Pip was waiting to greet us and soon had us organised sorting through boxes of donated children's clothes and folding and organising them into gender and age group so they can be easily distributed to families along with children's equipment for the very young. A second group cleaned toys downstairs so they are ready to hand out. There was a lot of cooing in the room, I believe some of the team were getting broody for the rest It was light relief to be indoors for this 30 minute task.
We always make enough time to catch a group photo before leaving and thanking our hosts for allowing us to come along and do some good in our community, so everyone please spread the word if you know anyone that might benefit from some children's clothes or equipment.
The run back was a flat but fast one with the front runners looping to keep the group close and to ensure we arrived back at the leisure centre in good time for a well earned stretch out and vote on tonight's pun.
Thanks to Mary for back marking and to Rosie for tonight's pun. Yet another fun evening with a fabulous group of people, it's what makes the world go around.
Remember to bring you ID along for Emily or myself to check if your wishing to get paired up or join us on missions.

Well after all that rain yesterday I guess our 18 Goodgym runners were lucky not to swimming the 7k out to tonight's task at aptly named WATERY LANE for Action on Hearing Loss.
The very talented Pascale took the lead on tonight's run with her interpreter skills for the deaf. We are possibly the only Goodgym who can accommodate deaf runners and with extra help from Anne and Lucy we really do have inclusion covered on this one.
A very warm welcome tonight to Steve, Meera and the return of our fabulous two super girls Emma and Lydia who left us to play boules, I mean what ever next.
A good warm up to get us on the right track for a flat but long run out to Twerton and not forgetting that all important headcount before the starters pistol. Wellies may have been more appropriate this evening but we are made of tough stuff at Goodgym Bath so literally took it in our stride with a few puddle jumps along the way with a good mix of strengthening exercises on route. from step ups to press ups.
Evan who is the volunteer gardener at Action on Hearing Loss was eagerly awaiting us and with the help of Pascale was able to communicate his gratitude to the the group and give us our instructions for tonight's task in these lovely gardens.
He soon had use raking and sweeping the driveway and footpaths of leaves and manoeuvring them down the woodland Path tithe composting bins. They say time flies when your having fun and that was certainly the case tonight and it was soon time to leg it back to the leisure centre for a well deserved stretch and a lap of honour for Meera who did a fantastic job of smashing the 7k run... well done !!
Thanks for letting me(Steph) back mark tonight as for once I didn't need eyes in the back of my head. Thank you Steve for tonight's pun. He can definitely come back.
Remember to bring your ID along if you wish to be paired up or do missions.

A fabulous 14 runners came along to Goodgym Bath tonight for a 6.5k run around the city handing out backpacks full of essential items to the homeless for Julian house.
Great to see some new faces this evening with a very warm welcome to Amelia, Lauren, Alison and Mike joining us for a bit of Goodgym Goodness on the streets of Bath.
Everyone arrived in good time giving us a chance to chat about Goodgym and catch up with what's been happening within Goodgym Bath before our warm up and headcount without a glitch.
Everyone had a little extra weight to carry on our run around the city centre as we weaved our way through the streets looking for Homeless folk to hand them a little something to make life a bit easier on these cold winter nights from toiletries to thermal blankets.
It's been nearly one year since last doing this task but still some familiar faces out there rough sleeping who Remember us, sad to see so little has changed for them in the last year.
Lots of opportunities for some fitness extras tonight from press ups to walking lunges making us stronger runners. John was moving like margarine this evening ... you really had to be there!
A good 40 minutes on the move with time taken to chat with the homeless about their dogs and things in general. Giving out toiletries and personal care to warm clothing and thermal blankets, so spare a thought for those less fortunate in the winter months.
Everything given out so it was time to head back to the leisure centre for a well earned stretch out and the one thing non of us knew was apparently THE EARTH IS FLAT ... Really !?
Thanks to Irena for backmarking and Alison for tonight's inspiration on the pun. Next week were off to action on hearing loss so be sure to sign up https://www.goodgym.org/happenings/evan-needs-us
Thanks guys for another epic night in the streets of our beautiful city
