This morning Jo and Jonny headed down to Sutton Park to hand out leaflets at the finish of Sutton Parkrun. These were pointing parkrunners to the GG website, but also we were explaining about the new social visits launching in Sutton Coldfield.
We were very lucky that we had a lovely sunny morning to complete our mission :)

A lovely Community Mission took place this morning at Aston Hall.
Yes GoodGym Birmingham have been asked to be part of the launch of the Aston Hall Parkrun. Hence the pun, from a classic old skool dance track!
Today we were helping out at the 'test event'. This meant around a dozen people would run the route with the rest of us marshalling.
Jo and Jonny had biked to the Mission therefore they biked to the furthest point of the course to marshall there. That was right by Villa Park, so of course we had a couple of pics. Jonny's been to Villa Park a couple of times, not to watch Villa I might add, but his team Hull play Villa!
Rahul, Kanchan and Madan were marshalling nearer the finish. Madan was here for his first ever GoodGym Mission and did a sterling job marshalling and supporting the runners.
Once all the runners were back in we had a group photo outside Aston Hall, joining us were Rahema and Sally from Run Birmingham.
It was a successful morning and we were able to provide some valuable feedback too the Parkrun director. There will be another test run in a few weeks with a few tweeks to the course and organisation etc, so please look out for it on the website :)

The Birmingham Walkathon is back! Once a regular fixture on the Brum events calendar, this 26-mile circular walk around the iconic number 11 bus route returned on Sunday after a ten-year hiatus.
Walkers could choose one of two starting points – either Rookery Park in Erdington in the north of the city or Kings Heath Park in the south – both with a GoodGym warm-up to get them going. Jonny in Erdington and Rob and Balal in KH made sure all participants got those leg muscles ready.
As the walkers set off, Amy headed to Winson Green to take her place as a road marshal, while Laura and I mirrored her over the other side of the circle in KH. We could have all done with a warm-up too on this very chilly morning – Laura and I kept warm by dancing to a portable radio (and hot drinks and snacks kindly sent over by Balal!) while Amy eventually benefitted from a change in the weather, having to use her umbrella as a parasol.
The road marshals' job was to cheer on the walkers, make sure they crossed the road safely and let them know that the next checkpoint wasn't far away. Among the hardy hikers was GoodGym volunteer Jo, who completed the 26-mile circuit in just under eight hours!
Thanks also to GoodGym-ers Eve, who helped to promote the Walkathon with a leaflet drop in KH and Stirchley a couple of weeks ago, and Miriam and Annie who shared updates on Instagram. Congratulations too to all the other volunteers who made the event's comeback a success and to the participants who raised money for HelpHarryHelpOthers, the Harry Moseley Cancer Charity.

This morning we had a slightly different 'group run' in that it was a walking one.
We joined the Birmingham Walkathon team in Rockary Park, Erdington to deliver some leaflets about the said event. GoodGym being the official training partner of the Walkathon. Before we set off Jonny did a few videos, giving nutrition and training advice for the big day before re headed out for the leaflet drop.
We went up and down a main road, dropping lots of leaflets in all the houses on one side, before coming up the other side.
We were lucky the weather stayed nice and dry and after the task, Jonny got the Warm up leader job on the actual day of the event. Morwenna managed to organise a leaflet drop for the event and on arriving home Jo signed up to actually take part in the event doing the full 26 miles!
A great morning had by all :)

Had a good time. A lot of thanks from park goers. We tidied up a lot of rubbish left behind by park users. It was lovely catching up with Johnny and meeting Jo. Great people!
