One of GG Kingston's favourite missions this evening: helping the British Heart Foundation at their massive charity shop in Kingston town centre. The task was to create a spring and summer window display.
After a brisk run we arrived at the store and sprung into action. The large window space needed clearing and display items needed gathering. This is part of the fun @ BHF - delving into their gargantuan 'back rooms' of furniture, books, games, ornaments... a hoarders paradise. We collected a load of summer-like items and got our creative juices flowing to plan out a bright and colourful window display.
As is always the way, many hands made light work and we had soon fulfilled the brief, much to the delight of BHF's steadfast manager, Christine.
Welcome to GG Kingston's newest member, Yana. Your creative experience was invaluable tonight! Hope to see you again soon.

On a lovely Spring morning Claire and Julie undertook a very delicate task to prune the Salvias and hydrangeas being careful not to step on the springs bulbs that had sprouted in the GoodGym flowerbed.
The pruning should help us get bushier plants with lots of colour in the Summer. We also removed a large amount of leaves giving the bulbs some more room to breathe.
There will be lots of opportunities to volunteer at the flowerbed across the Spring and Summer so keep an eye out for these.

It was a beautiful sunny morning today at the Forest School Allotment. Helen, Amy, Rachel and Julie started off by moving the compost from the old raised bed which was in a shady corner into the new beds in the sunnier side. It was heavy work but with a few of us we worked quickly, so there was time to help Alex with some heavy lifting jobs that needed doing. We moved some bags of compost and some heavy plant pots into their new homes. It was great to see the results of some of our earlier efforts, with some plants we’d saved from the old beds and pots coming into flower. Kate and Rob brought their new arrival to say hello, and we all enjoyed spending some time with the animals (goats, rabbits and best of all CHICKENS). A great task today and a big welcome to Amy on her first Goodgym mission.

Ten GoodGymers geared up this evening at Full Cycle, ready to put their cycling skills to good use, some even arrived on two wheels!
Upstairs we had a wheelie good success moving bikes and then found extra jobs taking off tyres and cutting the spokes off wheels - recycling where possible. Downstairs the team were kept busy recycling inner tubes and cleaning bikes - wiping down frames until they gleamed. The spare parts salvaged and recycling efforts proves that we're not just about fitness, but also about being eco-conscious.
It was a great effort from everyone, and Full Cycle were really grateful for our help. A big shout out to all the GoodGymers who came along. For a moment we almost had a Goodgym Merton takeover… but in Rachel's absence we tried not to poach everyone and of course we are just a big Goodgym happy family getting involved and supporting charities and organisations whenever we can ;)!
