Bulb Planting Event ๐Ÿ€

This evening Woking GG headed to Brookwoods Memorial Halls to clear an area behind the hall for a bulb planting event. ๐ŸŒฑ

Wayne ran from Knaphill and got to the halls first we he met Steph who is the manger of the halls and who asked for our assistance. Wayne helped Steph unload her car with all the tools that were required for the task. The area was quite a large area and went back deep. Steph's parents also joined us.

With tools in hand work began to remove the brambles shortly after Nadia & Anne joined the group they both also ran from Knaphill but along the canal ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™€๏ธ. They got stuck in straight away by filling up the bags with the brambles that had already been removed. We were soon joined by Alys & Quinn ๐Ÿถ, followed by Adam who ran from Woking, Julie & Lauren it was great seeing Lauren who is still recovering from an injury.

Whilst working away we got talking to Steph who told us that the bulb planting event was going to happen during Halloween ๐ŸŽƒ with arts & crafts and other activities ( Sounds like a fun event)

The Surrey 1/2 was still on peoples mind, the event, atmosphere, runners was just amazing and all GG Woking runners did amazingly well.

The sun was setting and Steph brought out Tea & Biscuits for everyone. The area we had cleared looked so different, it was now a great space to plant bulbs. ๐Ÿ˜€

It total we had done 14 bags ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿฝ We cleared up said our goodbyes and headed off Anne, Adam, Alys & Quinn, Nadia ran back along the canal, Julie headed home, while Julie dropped Wayne off back in Knaphill.

Great job everyone, see you soon ๐Ÿ˜€

Annual GG Martian Race ๐Ÿ‘ฝ

Woking Report written by Wayne

*The Martian Race *

What a difference a year makes. This time last year it was the hottest day of the year โ˜€ This morning it was no was no where near in actual fact the running conditions were fantastic. The atmosphere in the event village was amazing and seeing so many faces from other local running groups was great ๐Ÿ˜€. Kirsty & Lauren who had signed up fir the 5k but who are unfortunately carrying injuries along with Adam who signed up for the 10k and is currently injured decided to walk the 5k route. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿพ.

Wayne, Abi, James, & Anne were all doing the 10k.

It was great seeing other local running groups that we know. As well as representing GG James & Abi were also running for Woking AC. Before the main race we cheered and encouraged the mini runners who were doing a 2k Kirsty especially was very vocal in her encouragement ๐Ÿคฃ by the time shes watched the England game ill be surprised if she has not lost her voice. ๐Ÿด๓ ง๓ ข๓ ฅ๓ ฎ๓ ง๓ ฟ.

9:30 The main race began after a quick warm up we were off. The first 1k was on an open field with an incline and then it was straight into the common ๐ŸŒด There were plenty of spectators out on the course as well as the marshals who were supporting the runners around.

Rich who is a good friend of the Woking GG team came in 1st overall in the 5k. Fantistic result and he donated his prize money back to the charity, what a guy ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿพ.

Abi finished first followed by James then Wayne and then Anne all were very happy with their times especially Anne coming first in her age group ๐ŸŽ‰

After a well deserved drink and some photos we said our goodbyes and headed home.

It was a fantastic morning ๐Ÿ˜€.

Woking GG Social Evening

Tonight after completing our weekly task GG Woking had a long overdue get together.

Wayne, Anne, Adam, Katie, Kirsty, Lauren, Julie, & Nadia all headed to Chennai Dosa Artisanz for food, drink and conversations ๐Ÿ˜‹. It was a shame that other members could not make it but hopefully we will have another one soon.

We accidentally came across the restaurant a few weeks ago while doing a leaflet drop in the area and the smell just made us all want to go in and try the food.

Nadia, Wayne, & Katie were going wild and letting their hair down with Ginger & Mango Mocktails ๐Ÿคฃ while Kirsty was sticking to her wine.

Once we had made our mind and then changed our mind and then made our mind up we all ordered a variety of dishes. Kirsty dosa arrived and we were shocked how big it was it was huge, Slowly everyone's food was coming to the table it all smelt and looked good.

Wayne The most hungriest person was the last to get his food and when it did arrive was shocked that he had ordered a starter size dish, even though it was tasty but within a second all the other dishes from the table were all in front of him from the rest of the group โค

It was a great evening talking about Running, Politics, Holidays and putting the world the right. Woking GG are a amazing group of people an we lucky that we all have each other โค.

Knaphill Community Fridge

This evening 8 GG members met up at the Knaphill Community Fridge to carry out a big clean.

Wayne, Anne, Adam, Katie, Kirsty, Lauren, Julie, & Nadia met the Church where we then met Jules who had many tasks for us to carry out.

We split up in two teams. Anne, Katie, & Nadia were tasked with wiping down the inside of the marquee and once completed put up some bunting around the three sides, there was plenty of buckets of water and cleaning products and the girls got stuck in straight away ๐Ÿงฝ.

Wayne & Adam had the responsibility of moving the fridge and freezer getting right behind and giving the floor area a good sweep and mop. In order to do this a lot of moving around was required ๐Ÿ’ช.

Julie & Kirsty who currently only has the use of one arm were removing an old filing cabinet and it contents and replacing it with a new one, they were also doing some weeding and generally helping everyone.

While busy working talk started about the Surrey half marathon. Looks like Woking GG will be represted well this year with Wayne, Anne, & Adam doing the half, while Katie, Kirsty, Nadia, & Lauren possibly doing the 5K ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™‚๏ธ, Hopefully our currently injured members will be fit and ready to go by then ๐Ÿ˜Š.

Within the hour we had finished Jules was very impressed with the quality of the teams work. We are back at the fridge in two weeks time to do a little painting.

We helped Jules clear everything away said our goodbyes and headed to the restaurant for something to eat..๐Ÿ˜‹.

Fan-cake-tastic Mission

Woking Report written by Wayne

  • Firstly it was great having Anne back at goodgym after her recent visit back home to France ๐Ÿ‡ซ๐Ÿ‡ท

  • Also a big Happy Birthday shout to Nadia who wanted to spend her birthday evening digging up soil and pulling weeds in the wet ๐ŸŽ‰

After recent beautiful sunny goodgym evenings today was the opposite. Wayne, Nadia, Anne, & Julie met at the WWF along the canal and ran the 2.5k through the woods along Horsell common. Kirsty & Lauren met us at the All Saints Parish Church.

When we arrived at the church we walked in to Adrain (who looks after the church) giving the girls a tour around this beautiful church. He was telling a story about how they got a certain stain glass window, must say the window and the story behind it was amazing. After the tour we got stuck into the 3 tasks. We split up into 3 teams of 2. Kirsty & Lauren were tasked with giving the walls in the community hall a good wash down while there was a dance class going on ๐Ÿ’ƒ. Anne & Julie has an outside task they had to remove all the weeds and brambles ๐ŸŒฑat one side of the grounds. Nadia & Wayne also had an outside task they had to dig up an area to make it level for a future car park space. Adrian had provided us with all the tools to carry out the tasks. The digging up task looked tough but in no time the area looked level much better than what it was. ๐Ÿ˜€. The other two groups were also getting stuck in. Half way through the task Adrian had taken out hot beverage orders. We all headed inside where we had arranged a little birthday surprise for Nadia ๐Ÿฐ๐ŸŽ‰. After singing happy birthday in English & in French ๐Ÿ˜€ and the candle being blown out we sat down for a chat and a cuppa. Adrian was telling us about the church and its congregation. Once tea and cake were finished we headed back outside to finish off cleaning the walls and removing a few more weeds. it was getting dark just as we finished. We cleared away the tools said goodbye to Adrian and headed home.

We will be back to the church soon to finish off.

Next Wednesday we may have a training session lined up. Keep a look out. ๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿพโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿ’จ

have a great evening.
