Redbridge Report written by James C (he/him)
Arriving to the Food bank, we had 7 cyclists turn up, which seems like a record. Still however you got there, thank you for turning up, your help is very appreciated.
We had 2 new comers (Yasmine and Evelyne and 1 first timer andArjun at the food bank. Julia, Linda, and James was showing these new comers the ropes. In total we packed for roughly 70 families/individuals.
With breaks taken of course, bottles of water was provided as well as bourbons, and some bagel sandwiches (it helped if you like cheese, options were cheese slice, or cream cheese).
This was the first time that when repacking we used the outside container. And once the scouts donations was sorted we helped load the packages for the drivers.
James did some vacuuming at the end, the pic is believed to be for mum as proof he knows how to use it 😅.
Linda unfortunately got in a battle with a Mutant Ninja Trolley and lost with a bruise to prove it.
The next food bank task is up on the website, 3 weeks from today, hope to see you again next time.

Another busy day with 77 food parcels to pack, but Team GG Redbridge was more than up for the challenge. It was lovely to have Tash from Waltham Forest joining us for the first time!
We soon got into the rhythm of packing but a bit of confusion with the numbers handed out meant that some bags had to be re-labelled. Not to be deterred, the group kept going and we got everything ready for the 2pm arrival of drivers, with many of us staying on for a while to help load up the cars. Another great effort, well done everyone!

Maggie Elstob earned their community cape by completing their first community mission.
Maggie completed a community mission. Instead of watching TV or lying in bed, Maggie was out there making their community a better place to be. For making that choice they have earned the community cape.

Maggie Elstob completed their first run in a new area.
Curious? Maggie has just run their first session in another area. For that explorative spirit Maggie is awarded the scout badge. A Scout is trustworthy

It was another busy day at Frenford with over 60 parcels to be packed for local families. It was great to welcome Maggie to Goodgym Redbridge and lovely to see Julia no. 2 (haha) and foodbank regulars James and Linda. Julia (no. 1) also popped by to say hello before heading off to tend to her allotment. We all arrived by foot or bike and enjoyed the beautiful sunny day before getting stuck into the task.
After getting the task briefing from Genevieve, we had time for a quick photo with the banner that Linda brought along for my 50th task. Thanks to Linda for the kind thought and for explaining to everyone that it was my 50th task and not 50th birthday, haha.
As usual the time flew by packing up the parcels to meet the 2 pm deadline, when drivers started arriving to pick them up. Everyone put in a great effort and we left feeling like we'd made a difference.
