Hackney Report written by anne malcolm
Behind the doors of an unassuming warehouse in Stamford Hill is a treasure trove of furniture, clothes, toys, kitchen ware, building materials, bicycle parts, and much more besides, all collected by charity, Streetbox and their friends to create a new community cafe, commercial kitchen, and workshop space to help tackle food waste and fight food poverty.
Today's task was to sort items and make space for the delivery of..... more building materials! (salvaged, of course), to progress the next stage of the project - structural works including a new roof.
Sana, Rob and Anne gave up some of their Bank Holiday Saturday to lend a hand. Chris from Streetbox explained the background of the project and directed goods to the correct areas. He also put in a lot of hard graft too.
There was all sorts to be sorted but soon the team were familiar with the allocated areas for different types of items and clothes mounds were growing, the building materials area started to look like a DIY store and the area of bulky furniture could have given IKEA a run for its money.
The growing pile of empty crates provided a measure of progress while the mound of items for out was a source of catharsis. Key finds were a karaoke machine which looked like a pedestal from The Weakest Link, and a vintage record player cabinet, both of which suggest there could be fun times ahead when the community cafe opens!
Before then, more help will be required to load and unload building materials for the structural works; and then later when the space is transformed and more operational, to help sort food for distribution, so keep an eye open for more sessions to help this exciting project.

Šana completed 25 good deeds with GoodGym.
Šana has already done 25 good deeds with GoodGym. Instead of doing anything else, they've used their run to go and help people that need their help; digging, lifting, scraping, clearing, planting and weeding. Stuff that makes this a better place to be.

Haringey Report written by Charlie Linton
It was an emotional rollercoaster for Gramps and GG Haringey this week. Tasks got postponed, there were illnesses, work duties, train strikes, and a football match stacked against the team.
Luckily, ever-faithful Laura from the Friends of Tottenham Green was able to step-in and our task for the night could go ahead. A huge thank you to Laura for accommodating us last minute, and to Gramps for organising that last minute while unwell!
Nurjehan and Veronika got to work with litter picking in a special location around some benches. There was a lot of litter to contend with, but they left it looking spick and span.
Meanwhile, Dan, Šana, and Charlie were armed with spades and an edging tool and were given the task of edging up the grass around one of the footpaths. Over the years, the grass had covered up a thin silver line that marked the edge of the path, but the team uncovered it again and even used the grass and soil we dug up to fill in some tyre tracks.
All that was left to do was take a group photo, tidy away our tools and head on home.

Southwark Report written by Sam Lefevre (he/him)
Daryl, Diane, Paulin, Sam and Šana arrived St Faith's Community Centre to help the GROAD volunteers setup the weekly Monday Open House and take in the generous donations from the general public.
Diane and Šana concentrated inside with setting up the main hall, whilst Daryl, Paulin and Sam took in and sorted the donations as the came through. These donations would be used for future Open Houses, but for now they live in Shed 2.
We are pretty much at full capacity after two Sundays of operation.
