Goodgym Hero of the Week, Mikaela, was joined by twelve deputy heroes on the High Street tonight to do some gardening for Colchester in Bloom. After a briefing from Tav, we ran and walked to the meeting point to get our instructions. Armed with garden bags and tools we made short work of emptying ten two-tier planters of old plants, ready for the new ones tomorrow. The task was a repeat of the one in May, although this time it didn't end in free rhubarb for the runners! We piled our heavy bags of plants into Pam's car, and headed off for some hill sprints, supported by Stu, Hels, and Yee, shouting encouragement and shining some extra lights! 👍 😁 👏 A fantastic run, walk, cycle and task this evening, well done everyone!

With Saturn and Jupiter clear (probably) in the sky 8 Goodgymers got fit whilst doing good.
We lifted off from Yourzone and landed without a bump at Colchester Foodbank.
We set about our mission with scientific precision (with thanks to our three COVID lab heroes) and explored every corner of the warehouse with brushes, vacuums and mops.
The mission was done but the journey back was yet to completed and the starry sky led us safely home to base.
A big welcome to David on his debut and a huge hello to Hannah on her second voyage.
Goodgym is a team and the group tonight have a combined good deed count of 664! Mind blowing galactic goodness!

On a blustery and wet evening we were glad to be inside and the task was a good work out. The Colchester Foodbank is quite a size and the four of us worked hard to sweep, mop and sanitize key surfaces. The unsung hero is about to get sung. Hetty the hoover and Yee worked hard to clean the carpets!
We chatted about the Olympics as we cleaned although the mopping technique was more in the winter Olympic curling style.
Hopefully the fresh, clean lemon smell will last until the morning for the staff and people collecting food.

We all enjoy a bit of cleaning, especially when it is not in our own homes! Our task this evening was a good clean of Rookery House, a space used by adults with learning disabilities to do various artwork. When we entered the space, we were greeted with wonderfully colourful artwork on the walls and were very impressed with all of the murals. In particular there was a very striking ginger cat and a lovely Mersea Island mural as well as various Disney characters. We got to work hoovering, wiping, sweeping and dusting. Kudos to Stu for tackling the loo and Phil for making the windows lovely and see through again! It was great to see our relatively new members Andrew and Yee and the return of Josh. Also a pleasure to have the lovely Helen, Louise and Dan too of course! We were quick but efficient in our task as the England semi-final awaited those of us keen to watch. We headed off just before the roaring pub crowds could get fully going!
Thanks everyone for a super shiny job!
