Catherine, Tom and Mel were today helping Kids Clothes Line pack up and leave their current premises to move to new and bigger storage in Havant. The weather was lovely and sunny and perfect for what we needed to do. There was a huge amount of clothes containers, boxers, hangered clothes in bags, paper carrier bags of sorted/allocated clothing, crockery, heaters, boxes of paper bags, and a small table to go. We had a good number of people helping out and to make things move a little bit quicker and safely we formed a line of people leading from the upstairs storage loft, down some steep stairs, and out to the van for loading. It was very effective and it took under an hour to move it all downstairs. Not quite everything went on the larger van, but a smaller van was used to pick up the balance of items and driven over to the new premises - whilst waiting for the smaller van we swept up and left a nice clear area of space for another use and took a welcome refreshment break in the sunshine. More Goodgymers and other helpers were waiting in Havant to offload and move everything to the new space with the benefit of trollies and a lift. It was a lovely task and our help at both sites were much appreciated by the charity. It's a temporary move until new storage is available back in Portsmouth - hopefully, we'll be able to help Kids Clothes Line out again in the future.

Helping Familes Dress Their Kids

Every family is important and decent, comfortable clothing is vital to children’s health, well-being and development. So, our mission is to help local families in the Portsmouth and Havant area who may need a hand kitting out their kids. The Kids Clothes Line collect quality garments and footwear for kids aged 2-16 years at our warehouse in Portsmouth. Clothing donations come from local people and commercial retailers. All the clothing we provide to families is in good, clean condition.
