This was a group run where the good news was never ending:

  • It was one of our favourite winter tasks collecting the abandoned trees of Lewisham and dropping them off at the recycling points at Hilly Fields
  • It was our 7th birthday group run
  • We had a 7th birthday post-group run social to look forward to
  • It was Jacqueline's 600th good deed!!
  • It was Jacqueline's birthday tomorrow (today)

We split into 3 teams using the very technical method of numbering everyone 1 to 3 and then checking which group Miguel was in and assigning teams appropriately! We did not want a repeat of last years missing Miguel situation...

With the teams assigned, maps handed out and Miguel safely in my group - we headed our separate ways, covering as many streets surrounding Hilly Fields. we had 1 aim - get the trees to the recycling point.

Group no 1 had a very efficient system of piling the trees at the end of roads and then doing a couple of big trips back to the recycling point. The other 2 groups had equally efficient systems or they went the pub and returned to the meeting point just in time for 8pm!

We gathered at the meeting point ready to hear if we'd made it to the same number of trees as Jacqueline's birthday and after a run through of everyone's totals...HAPPY 48TH (PLUS 1 WREATH) BIRTHDAY!

There was time for a quick group photo in the trees and then it was up and over the hill back to Glass Mill to stretch and make our way to the social.

Great effort team!
