The sun was shining down on us today as 7 members of the Brompton team took on a GoodGym session for the first time!

Today, as part of their new starters induction with Brompton, everyone got involved to help The William Hobbayne charity look after young trees in Hanwell. The trees were planted a few years ago as part of a community planting initiative to improve bio-diversity and for the enjoyment of the many walkers who pass through it the land. However the maintenance involved in the first few years after planting requires lots of volunteer and community input - step in the Brompton team!

We started the morning off with a lovely cycle through some of Ealing's parks and green spaces before arriving at The William Hobbayne Centre to store bikes and pick up tools for the job at hand. June, the community outreach officer for the charity, was there to tell us all about the land and what a contribution the group today would be making.

It was then a short walk down to the canal to find the trees in question and get started with clearing back the overgrowth around the young trees to give them the best chance of thriving for years to come.

As well as doing lots of hard work today everyone also really enjoyed being outside in nature and in the sunshine for the morning!

After an hour the team had made a huge dent the clearance around the trees and were really proud of their contribution to the community. Those that live locally commented that they were excited to be able to pass by in future and say 'I helped those trees!'

All in all a great success and we all had a great ride back in the warm sun knowing we'd made a difference!
