A big well done to everyone involved this evening! We welcomed 30 guests, supported by first time volunteers as well as experienced members of the hosting team, who did a brilliant job serving our guests and keeping everything spotless. The cooking team, turned out three fantastic courses: pizza to start, followed by rice, daal and fried potatoes for the main, and a comforting crumble for pudding. Another smooth and successful service, thanks to the whole team’s hard work.
Operating every Thursday evening at the Togetherness Community Centre in Mitcham, the project welcomes guests from all walks of life to share a hot meal and engage in friendly conversation in a warm, inclusive environment. The meals are prepared by dedicated volunteers using surplus food collected from local supermarkets and grocers, ensuring that perfectly edible food is diverted from landfill and put to good use. Volunteers take on various roles, including cooking, hosting, and food collection, all contributing to the creation of a welcoming space where guests can enjoy both nourishment and companionship. By fostering connections among community members and promoting sustainability, FoodCycle Mitcham not only provides immediate support to those facing hardship but also works towards building a more resilient and connected local community.
