You know what they say about GoodGym Newham Fitness Sessions? They're like buses, don't see one for ages then two come along....and make you question your life choices.
A decent squad emerged between 645pm and 7pm, better late than never, right?! We had the pleasure of meeting Georgia and Chloe, excellent additions to the clan. The Random Weekly Question this week "what's your favourite podcast?" Mainly because I needed a refresh of my podcast library, but also I thought it may be interesting and perhaps insightful. The answers: Off Menu, Parenting Hell, Adam Buxton, Diary of a CEO, Tough Girl, Burn Wild and The Weeds. An array of audio gold from Comedy come food chat, niche American politics, esoteric Buxtonian Interviews, female inspiration, tales of eco terrorism/activism and parenting stories - there's a space for everyone in the podcast game. Something for Georgia there, surely?
Just as we left base, I saw a message from Nomadic Garden profusely apologising for a very cancellation. Something about excavation works, they're a meanwhile site, opposite Stratford Int, they make temporary spaces invitingly green and communal - before a massive block of flats goes up. I think the excavation was part of the future development there. Anyhow, this unforeseen change of plans allowed for some leg-sculpting, lung-busting joy.
After a round of warm up action, we switched between some multi-directional step-ups and paired plank-jumps. Then a sprinkle of explosive jumps and upper body work (interspersed with a tonne of laughing) to conclude part one of the session . Part two was speed-endurance based interval, rolling through the gears and practising pacing finesse. Think we all got the gist, there was an energetic team hustle as you galloped back to the start point, clawing back some vital meters towards the finish line. Lovely efforts.
