Report written by Paul Becker (he/him)
Five hundred good deeds! It was a Dave like no other at the Malago Berry Maze: a real Dave to remember in fact as our favourite Godfather of Goodgym hit this massive milestone of goodness today.
We were off to help get the maze ready for Brustol Open Doors Day and after Barney had patiently once again run through proper weeding technique and the whereabouts of the various precious berry plants, we got straight down to work.
Some scratched at the top soil with hoes, others dug a little deeper with spades and one or two expertly wielded the green froggy trowel of greatness.
Clo dug deepest of all, however as she spotted one last piece of car in what seemed like a fitting moment on a day to mark the many visits if the past when we dug up rocks, brambles and steering wheels a-plenty.
It was lovely as well to see Raluca come along today (with new addition Alexander!) so she could enjoy the chance to finally present this wonderful space to the open day visitors after all of her hard work in making it happen. Who would have thought that the sad loss to fire of a local scout hut would ultimately result in the opportunity to open up the space to the community in this new and beautiful way.
We'll celebrate with you properly on Tuesday when everyone is around Dave but for now just know that you're loved by everyone that knows you and that a number (even one as large as this) will properly represent the amazing contribution you've made to our club, both in supporting and encouraging others - and in the delivery of killer puns.
