Great turn out last night to help Coventry Boys and Girls Club with sprucing up the place with a lick of paint! There's a few paint jobs they need doing and we started with the entrances to the lifts which are on 3 floors. Allan had also requested a 40 minute run so we discussed how best to co-ordinate the painting and run so that we could fit it all in.
We all helped out with the prep work, putting sheets down, masking the edges, and filling the trays with paint. We started with 2 people tackling each floor, some using the rollers and some painting the edges with the paintbrushes. Jackie and Deb took the top floor, Nigel and Laura on the second and Maddie and Lilian on the ground. When Allan arrived and it was decided to split the group in two, with four people running and four left behind to continue painting and then when they returned, we would swap.
The painting team worked super quick and were finished by the time the first group returned from their run so that just left the job that no one ever wants to do, the washing up! Luckily Jackie and Deb took that on - thanks guys! While the rest of us joined the first group for another run. It was decided, as we were painting, to go on an artwork trail around the City Centre. Lots of great artwork to be seen including a mural tribute to Coventry's James Starley!
Great team work tonight and thanks to all for bringing ideas on how best to co-ordinate it all. Also a big welcome to Nigel, it was great to have you on board! To be continued next week when we return for more painting.
