Report written by Anastasia Hancock (she/her)
First off, a hat tip to Johnnie who came up with this week's excellent run report pun!
It describes the session perfectly as we were back for a regular stint at Chiswick House's community garden. This is a special place transformed by volunteers from destitute land into a thriving garden. The whole place is run as a charity and today it is used for teaching local residents, schools and community groups about horticulture and growing food.
Our jobs included pulling up last season's chard, which proved very therapeutic and also emptying and breaking up the old compost bins, which was equally as effective at working out the day's frustrations!
With all that work to do it was great that we had Susannah along for her first Hounslow group session- welcome! It was pretty chilly out, but energy levels were high and we were soon making excellent progress. With the fleet of wheelbarrows going back and forth to transport compost out and woodchip in, the compost beds were soon much emptier (and we even discovered a few potato treasures) and the beds were freshly mulched. Well done team!
As a special treat for the night, Kash led the group in a thorough, effective fitness session which worked all the major muscle group, combining strength and cardio - the perfect end to another great session!
Next week we're back to Cavendish school to build the impossible to pronounce but nonetheless very exciting hibernacula. You can sign up for it right here. Happy GoodGyming, all!
