Last night, the Goodgym Islington team jogged, walked and cycled to Caxton House Community Centre near Archway to lend a hand with their ongoing renovation project.

Rose, the volunteer coordinator on hand, invited us into the centre (while offering face masks for those who required them), and lead us to a couple of old work spaces. The objective is to turn these into sewing rooms, fitted with machines and equipment, ready for new members next year. Our first plan was to wipe down all of the walls using wire brushes and scourers, so the space will be ready to be painted.

Sally, Rachel, Marie Laure, Emily and Caitlin got stuck in, and really made a difference within 45 minutes. Aidan agreed to help with unscrewing a collection of shelves and fixings from the wall, which proved to be a tough job (some of these had been in place for a long time!).

This task proved to be very satisfying work, and it was amazing to see how much we covered. On 29th November and 6th December, we plan to return with paintbrushes, rollers and wall paint! See you then, everyone!
