Report written by York runner
We started off the group run by giving a group cheer to Leanne as we presented her with her official 100 good deeds t-shirt, very exciting stuff and a massive achievement!
Before we headed out on our run to York YHA, we did a little running drill with a focus on using the arms for running and Aidan proved to all of us that it's possible to move your arms really quickly even whilst keeping your legs slow - though not sure how far he would get down the River Ouse with that very err... individual technique.
We were greeted with a set of rakes, several wheelbarrows and some massive rubble bags. Our aim was to clear as many leaves as we possibly could from the grassy area at the front of the site, and to add them all to the absolutely enormous leaf-pile at the back of the site. with 40 minutes on the clock, the challenge was set.
Becky's got massive piles
Becky was indeed straight in with some hardcore raking, whilst everybody with gloves was scooping up armfuls and filling any leafy receptacle they could find. The crunchy leaves made us all very wistful of our childhood days, except for perhaps Nick who was just hungry.
This makes me want to eat cornflakes!
We banged out some motivational tunes as barrows went back and forth. Tim was doing his own sprint training whilst dragging the full rubble bags across the car park at an astonishing pace! It's always difficult to tell how much progress you've made when it's dark and when the leaves are a-plenty but we certainly made the massive leaf pile much larger.
MUSICAL FITNESS!!!
We had a lovely runaround on the grass outside the YHA reception to the tunes of The Police and AC/DC whilst completing several rounds of:
...and of course we executed a batch of 13 quality press ups to finish Day 13 of the November Press Up Challenge too (bring it on Lewisham!)
The pub social became an extended one with Barbara explaining to a bewildered table about punching a hanging sausage (punch bag, to the rest of us) and ended with me attempting to beat Lizzie on the bus. I lost by one minute. Next time!
Pun by Tim (cheers Tim!)
