StephDucat was already onsite in the kitchen ready for the 1pm service. Despina, joined for her 1st session and met with Steph before the storm started in the dining area. Welcome Despina!! Despina was introduced to Arul and was assigned to the clothing section with Stephen, Alison and other volunteers. Task was to manage one of the doors to have only 4 people at a time in the clothing area. Service started and Steph with the kitchen team plated the meals for the hungry customers : Fried chicken with mash, vegetables, salad and gravy. Option of grilled vegetables for the non meat eaters. Also had some hallal chicken available. The mash was really appreciated and the 2 massive pots disappeared. The team got a lot of good comments on the mashed session. Best mash done over the last few weeks!!! Then the customers all had some space for a dessert : either peaches with cream or sponge cake with fresh strawberries. After 2:30PM, sandwiches and take away food started. Despina came over to the kitchen to help out in the dishwashing area. We (s)mashed it. It was Alison's last day at ESK, so the team gathered to cheer and thank her for all the hard work with Angela.
Ealing Soup Kitchen is a registered charity set up to help the vulnerable and homeless in the area. Nine local churches support our faith-based Soup Kitchen, which has been running since 1973.
