Well, i think we can safely say summer is definitely over......

On a cool September evening two LEGENDS meet on a bridge in Admirals park to cycle ( yes cycle ) up to Writtle to help Mencap dig a hole for their new fish pond.

These 2 legends don't need to be named...

So Rich and Andy set off towards the setting sun in search of the allotment where this mystical hole was to be dug. Chatting as we pedaled along the infamous cycle paths that meander towards Writtle we quickly found ourselves entering the magical realm only to be greeted by a smile and introduced to said hole.

We were left in no doubt as to where they wanted the pond to go as someone had had the fantastic forethought to place the pond on the area they wanted it to go a few days ago, leaving a mark in the grass for us to dig, THANK YOU whoever you are.

As we started to dig away the night started to draw in and so the head torches were broken out and directed towards the chasm under us but soon they weren't enough, luckily i had brought my super doper bike light that managed to full the void with un-natural light and to keep us going.

Soon it was time to pack things up with us nearly reaching the Earth's mantle and the pond almost fitting in the hole. Its amazing how a small hole has so much dirt in it. After tools stowed and goodbyes said we set off into the night and on way home.

Pedaling our way back to the big city lights Andy was amazed with the lights on the bike path between Writtle and Chelmsford ( check them out for yourselves, they are pretty cool ). And after chatting all things bike we said our goodbyes and set off home for a feed.

It was a lovely evening cycling and got me thinking if anyone would like to join me on a social bike ride up to The Easters one weekend let me know, I'd be happy to ride along with you.

And with that,

Thanks for reading

Rich
