On a mild August morning, GoodGym Cardiff's Sean tackled an overgrown lawn, turning it from a wild mane into a neat 'do.

Sean's journey to Ely incorporated a mile-long run to the bus stop. Cutting it fine for time, he arrived a few minutes late. Welcomed by Mrs S, she directed Sean around the side of the house to the back garden.

There, Sean was faced with three small areas of lawn, a lawnmower, a strimmer, and a broom. Mrs S. cut to the chase; the task was simply to tame the lawn (no need for fence painting).

Sean had learnt how to start a lawnmower on a previous mission; he'd have no trouble here. After mowing one length, the cleaner called out from the backdoor to inform him he'd not attached the collection box to the mower. Ok, not much trouble, then.

Sean mowed the first area, then emptied the box, before moving onto the next patch. While unplugging the mower, Mrs S's dog entered the garden to say a friendly hello, before she called him back inside.

Next, Sean neatened the fringes with the strimmer, including around the roots of a garden tree. With a final flourish, Sean swept away grass trimmings, leaving behind a clear pathway.

The once-overgrown space now sported a tidy appearance. Mrs S. was very pleased with the result. After a little chat, Sean jogged away to the bus stop.

The mission success once again proved that when it comes to exercise and volunteering, GoodGym are a cut above the rest.
