We welcomed David to his first GoodGym session this evening - great to have you along! He certainly got stuck in with our task, helping to take down some shelving.
Meanwhile, Lucy, Richard and I joined Clare at the new unit to help put up the new Repair Cafe / Library of Things signage. Cue lots of scrabbling up and down ladders, then an emergency jig-saw break when we realised the sign was a little too long!
Back at the old unit, the rest of the team made great progress filling holes, taking down shelving and sweeping the floors. We finished up by taking a few bits and pieces across the new unit. Sinéad has reassured us that, despite appearances in the photos, she was not in drink whilst using a power tool!
So much achieved in such a short space of time - amazing work, everyone!

Unfortunately Mr D couldn't find the screws and bolts to attach the roof to his shed.
So we managed to place the roof on the shed and slot it onto its overlapping pieces. This measnt that all the items in the shed would stay dry. We then weighed it down so that it wont blow off.
Mr D said he will have a good look for the missing fittings or get some new ones before asking for us to come back and help.
Sun 28th Sep at 11:00am
Mr D will be able to move items from his home into his shed, allowing essential works to be completed in his home.

Our task this evening seemed a little counterintuitive for GoodGymers as we were helping remove weeds that had fought their way back through astro-turf. But for good reason, as one of the young residents of the block has an allergy to the weeds coming through, and he loves playing outside! We made quick work of neatening up the space, and even managed to clear the greenery from between the paving slabs too. Sustenance was provided, which was very much appreciated by Ness who had forgotten to eat all day!! Two teeny residents came out to check out our handywork and had fun running around and crawling over the decking.

A little less dystopian future than the 1953 novel (yes, I have been down a Wikipedia rabbit hole), our task this evening took us to a very peaceful garden for a spot of weeding.
The triffids had taken over the paving, so we removed these and some other weeds between the slabs. We even had time to clear some of the stoned area, including moving a very stubborn fuschia from amongst the rocks to a much more comfortable pot.
A lovely rainbow made a brief appearance at the end of our session which felt like a little bit of a reward for a very damp task.
