I hopped on my bike to head over to Mrs G’s and found her waiting for me in the garden, beside the most glorious weeping blossom tree.

The ornamental tree was in the garden when she moved many years ago and Mrs G has tended to it happily each year, but now has some health challenges and needed a hand to keep on top of it.

As I was trimming the branches people stopped to remark on the tree and a couple of neighbours came over and asked for some cuttings to grow and add to flower arrangements.

It was also a real treet to chat to Mrs G while she soaked up some sunshine, a lovely lady who was gracious in defeat (being a Chelsea fan, and me being a Leicester fan). Her and her family were sad to lose the cup final but pleased for our club on its winning streek.

It may have been a solo mission but there was nothing solitree about today. An afternoon well spent
