Apologies for the terrible pun, but could not get the amount of baked beans donated out of my head!
Apart from the baked beans, we gathered a lot of; tinned fruit and other veg, tinned meats, a ton of long life milk - including soy varieties, and lots of breakfast & biscuit goodies! One person commented along side their masses of tea donated, that every one should be able to have a cuppa tea!
We also managed to find some pasta! The Coronavirus scare seemed to have wiped out the big bags and standard pastas, but people found & donated whole wheat and mixed pastas even though they were a bit pricier!
But I don't have any food yet?
The 1-3pm slot was busy with some adorable children handing us cans, incredibly generous people (donating full bags of life) and some really confused customers. There was a lot of people commenting they had no food yet to donate, clearly not understanding we were suggesting it for their upcoming shop! However Vicky & Catherine were all smiles and happy to clarify any misunderstandings :)
The 2 hours quickly flew by thanks to fun company and the wonderful feeling of people's generosity - with a total of 20 crates filled by 3pm!
