Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
6 runners ran 5.5km to do some heavy lifting at Ealing Road Baptist Church
What are Wednesdays for? Not just humpday memes but GoodGym of course!
6 of us ran a gentle 2.75km down to Ealing Road Baptist Church to help Roger out with the latest phase of his renovation. GoodGym Hounslow has seen Ealing Road Baptist Church develop having visited a few times and it's always a reward to see Roger's smiling face and hear about his latest scheme. This week we were helping him spruce the place up, move some heavy bits and bobs and hear about the great work he does with homeless people.
We split into groups taking on various tasks from cleaning windows to moving mattresses and chairs to dusting. We finished our designated tasks in record time - Roger told us we would have saved him about 5 hours had be been on his own - and trustingly followed Roger down into the cellar. Having exhausted our repertoire of cellar jokes (most of which were admittedly on the dark side...) we got to work shifting some of the larger debris from the cellar and bringing it up into the church. Roger has plans for the cellar but even he isn't quite sure what they are yet. Watch this space!
Bidding farewell to Roger we set off back to Turnham Green for what I like to call "a bit of stuff" and is usually better know as "exercise". In turn each member of the group chose an exercise that the rest of the group had to do whilst that person was running 300m around Turnham Green. The results were some really good running, plenty of squats and some very muddy hands. After a stretch we head back to the Town Hall with big sweaty smiles on our faces.
A huge shout out to Wendy and Steph who made this their first group run and helped make this week such a success.
Sign up to next week's task here. More details will appear on the website soon but I can guarantee it's going to be tons of fun.
