One of them was injured, the other one was sick

They went to trim Mrs S' roses with the help of a stick

She had suffered a stroke and could not do the garden

But having there her daughter, all was less of a burden

Injured and sick, known as "the leftovers team"

They were determined not to leave a single raceme

Of rose hips, red and green, in the whole garden

So shameless I am, that I will happily repeat "burden"

Back in the 80's, Mrs S' garden had won a prize

Coughing and limping, "the leftovers" made it, at least, nice.
