This morning’s task was out in Feltham, which for anyone who doesn’t know the Borough of Hounslow is pretty close to Heathrow airport. Remy is training for her first marathon so took the opportunity to run out to Feltham and back to Chiswick- another 15 miles under her belt. Go Remy!

When we arrived we were greeted by Mr D’s wife who told us a little bit about the acute health challenges that both she and Mr D are facing. Mr D was in hospital for 21 months. He has Huntingdon’s Disease and a series of other health problems. His wife is also waiting to see a specialist about her own health and so she was really pleased to have some help as she can’t manage the garden herself just now. Mr D’s wife explained that anything we could do to help cut back several large bushes in the back garden would mean they didn’t have to worry about keeping on top of the garden.

Once we’d said hello to Mr D we got out into the garden where every possible kind of garden tool was waiting for us. Mr D’s wife had thought of everything and even better, we were given free reign to chop, trim, weed and tidy, no holding back on this mission!

We set to work and in no time at all we’d filled four large bags with clippings and leaves which just about fit in the brown wheelie bin. Mr D’s wife was so grateful for the support during what is obviously quite a difficult time. She was really pleased to hear that further visits could be requested from GoodGym if needed and we’d be happy to pay a return visit- Remy could use the extra miles before her marathon in October!
