SESSION ORGANISER
Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Liv Parker-Scott
Last night we ran a 7km(ish) route around the delightful sights of North Ealing and Acton delivering the quarterly newsletter for local charity Ealing 135 and boy was it wet!
3 of us braved the downpour (and the lorry splashes along the north circular) to spread the word for this great organisation that connects parents and carers with kids under the age of five living in and around the borough of Ealing.
Goodgym regular and now official member (woohoo!) Jenni was joined by myself and Amy for what was to be a very soggy run!
We started with a quick warmup under the shelter near our start location trying to stay out of the rain for as long as possible and then we were off. We had a number of specific addresses to attend and I'd planned a route that would take us passed all of them and also allowed us to flyer other houses en route too. We all got stuck in and each had our relevant distributions in plastic bags to try and keep everything dry!
Talk soon turned to rain related puns we could use for the report and after it was raining so heavily that there was an actual river in the road the deal was done and Jenni came up with our title this week, you guys are getting good at this!
We ticked off the locations quite quickly and before we knew it we were on the home straight all giggling about at how ridiculously wet we were, deciding...
you've got to laugh haven't you!
Back to base and we were all ready to go home and get dry, but not before squeezing in a quick HIIT session! Under the shelter again we completed a tabata session of 5 groups of two exercises done in an ABAB pattern, 20 Second on and 10 seconds off. With lots of standing leg exercises such as squats and jumping lunges we were all feeling the burn!
Thank you both so much for turning up on such a dreadful evening and making what could have been a horrible run actually really great fun, I think we can all feel very smug in the knowledge we got out there and did some good for ourselves and the charity!
Next week we are heading down to the canal for a big clean up and it would be great to get a big team down there and really make an impact! You can sign up here, come on guys let's make next week the biggest turnout yet!
Happy Running!
