Report written by Vicky Hearson (she/her)
After a cold drizzly January morning the sun came out for the team of Goodgymers who gathered to help tidy up a garden of a house being loaned to a family in need.
One member of ‘Team tall’ was there (Pete) so he took on the job of trimming the very high beech hedge. The trimmers soon ran out of steam so he and Debs dashed back to her house and collected some mains operated ones. They were then able to get the hedge under control, along with Leanne’s help pruning bigger bits and clearing up the cuttings.
Mitch and Nicky worked on clearing and digging over a raised bed.
Katie took on the greenhouse and by the end of the session it was clear and ready got use.
We welcome another Katie to her first task and she got stuck in with team bramble. Lucy decided to have a fight with one and needed a little first aid!
Ben and Ellie worked together to tidy up the front.
Others pruned, swept, gathered leaves…
It was lovely to have John B along to capture it all on camera (although he did keep offering ‘dog poo’ chocolate - actually they tasted very nice!)
After 90 minutes we’d made a great impact! We were well looked after with biscuits and hot drinks and hope to return soon to finish the job.
