We travelled to the familiar site of the foodbank at Moorside to see a not so familiar sight. The warehouse was empty of all tins, boxes and racking which usually filled the now surprisingly spacious warehouse. Our last task to help the foodbank was to help with painting the warehouse as agreed with the landlord prior to leaving with foodbank operations moved to a larger location.

Sunday’s team split up across the space with some filling the gaps which only became apparent once paint had dried in the warehouse from the previous day whilst others got painting what was the “front of house” area in white (as we had almost run out of grey). Tiffany returned for another day and we were joined by regular goodgymers Sally and Vanessa as well Vanessa’s partner Richard. We de-taped the warehouse, swept and cleared all the rubbish that was left behind and cleared the selection of newspapers which had been used to stop paint getting on the floor, some of which dated back to March 2020 when none of us had any idea what was coming over the following the 12 months… Another 2 and a half hours was up with only a small amount of painting left for Mike and the Foodbank volunteers to finish off.
