On a cold wet January evening 1 GoodGymer turned up to help clean the FoodBank. It felt a daunting task, but with a "Summer Party" playlist (Spotify's suggestion) an hour of sweeping and spot cleaning with the mop passed very quickly. Many thanks to Ricky Martin, Lou Bega and Bananarama for all the motivation!

We're back at the FoodBank first Tuesday of February, hopefully with a bigger team, so we can make sure we clean the whole place to make it nicer for all those hero's who look after those in need each day.

Tonight, 5 GoodGym Colchester volunteers got fit while doing good at Colchester Foodbank 💪❤️

The team headed out for an active session with a purpose, combining movement with meaningful community support. Once at the foodbank, everyone got stuck in with essential tasks that help keep this vital service running smoothly. Thanks to the volunteers’ energy and teamwork, the foodbank was left in a better position to continue supporting people in need across Colchester.

It was a great example of how a short burst of physical activity can make a real difference locally. High spirits, plenty of teamwork, and the satisfaction of helping others made this a rewarding session for all involved.

Huge thanks to the 5 participants who showed up, worked hard, and proved once again that GoodGym is all about fitness with a purpose. Great work, team! 👏🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️

6 GoodGymers met on a mild (unless you're from a hot country....) November evening to sweep, mop, vacuum and wipe down the Colchester FoodBank.

It was lovely to meet Mzi and Hamza for the first time who both got stuck in straight away sweeping and mopping.

The FoodBank was soon much cleaner than it started and we left satisfied with a good job done!

After a bit of a slow start due to our usual access route to the Foodbank being unavailable, Alexander, Grace and Nazir got straight to work sweeping the whole of the FoodBank's large warehouse floor while Louise started mopping and vacuuming. Before long the whole floor was done, and the colour of the water tipped away suggested we had left the site significantly cleaner!

3 GoodGymers set out on a damp evening to make sure the FoodBank stays clean and hygienic to care for those in need across Colchester.

It felt like a mammoth task to clean such a big floor space between the 3 of us but everyone set to work straight away sweeping the floor and mopped (almost) all of it. Alexander did a great job cleaning up the office area and Ray made sure we didn't leave until all was clean in the area where customer come in.

Look out for another opportunity to help out the foodbank on the first Tuesday of each month for the rest of this year - their funds are stretched so they really rely on volunteer support.

5 Goodgymmers made it to the food bank this time, with a couple new faces joining us, welcome to Adeyinka and Alexander!

It was a strange task, mostly due to the crazy heat making it one time we'd really prefer and outdoor task, and with energy low we'd opted to sweep and hoover but leave the mopping for another time. There was also a sparsity in the foodbank, owing to its imminent shutdown, meaning it could be our last outing there...

Happy to help where we can and enjoyed welcoming some new members, onto the allotment next week!
