7 wonderful GoodGymers came down to help at Horsenden Farm on a beautiful sunny autumnal Saturday morning!
After some much welcomed warm tea and treats (thank you Lynda!), our first task upon arrival was to help keep the polytunnel protected over the winter by insulating it using a huge roll of bubble wrap! The space is used at the farm by Mindfood, a fantastic Ealing based community interest company that supports people with depression, anxiety and stress to improve their wellbeing through gardening and horticulture. We've been trying to find a way to help them on our usual Tuesday evening group runs but timings have been proving difficult so it was so lovely to be able to support them on this Saturday community mission on the farm instead!
Under wraps!
Myself, Shan, Tash and Alex all worked as a team to roll and fit the wrap to the outside of the tunnel and we got it done in super fast time!
Diggin' it!
Next up it was helping to clear a big plot outside the main house, all the plants were being removed so we could weed out well... the weeds and turn the soil giving it a new lease of life! Here we were joined by Michelle who wanted in on the Saturday action and also Marline who helped treat the areas under the apple trees with her (non-GoodGym but hopefully soon to be GoodGym!) boyfriend!
Super Saturday!
With another mission on the horizon in the afternoon, myself and Tash shot off but I hear we were also graced by the presence of GoodGymer wanderer Chi. With his sights set on reaching 100 good deeds ASAP he made the special trip out for some Saturday volunteering to add to his collection.
Great to see so many of you and it was wonderful to help this beautiful community space!
