Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
A Barmey evening in Bath with a 4K run taking in some of the skyline back out the The Nuttery to try and finish raking up the hay and gathering it in but lucky for me there were seven of us and six rakes (phew) stroke of luck.
A very warm welcome tonight to Jo (one of my juniors from the good old days coaching at Somer AC) great to see she's still running and also Emma our in house vet, great to have them along for there first Goodgym run.
We all arrived in good time so it gave us a chance to have a good chat about the different ways to get involved with Goodgym and the seasoned Goodgymers to share their experiences with the group.
So after a warm up and headcount outside with the lovely Pascale kindly back marking tonight, we headed off into the sunset and to our destination at the foot of the Skyline but on our way down Great Pultney street we couldn't help but notice the BUBBLES in the fountain, must be someone's idea of a joke.
It was very warm this evening so we took advantage to cool off a bit with some walking lunges before a scenic run along the canal and up the steps off horseshoe walk to the fields forming part of the skyline walk before dropping back down to Smallcombe where our hosts were eagerly awaiting us.
A rather lavish 40 minutes to spare on the task tonight, so with six rakes a raking but HAY IT DONT HALF HURT THE BACK. Pascale and Jo taking on the upper field whilst the others worked hard at the bottom, plus Emma had an open discussion surgery on a prolapsed chicken with Virginia and very interesting it was too.
They say time flies when you're having fun and that was certainly the case tonight but thankfully the run back was short and downhill. We just had time to get a group photo with Alfie the dog (obviously) before heading back to the leisure centre with a sprint finish then a cool down and stretch out.
A reminder to bring your ID to the next group run if you wish to be paired up or go on missions.
We will also be having post races drinks on the last Tuesday each month to give us more chance to socialise and talk about ways to improve what we do. Thanks for tonight's pun Pascale.
Thanks one and all got your support tonight, you're all amazing.
