After visiting Kingston Rec with Katie over the weekend for the Move mapping task, I was appalled by the state of the park (litter everywhere). So Nick and I agreed to venture out one lunch break to clean it up, today was the day, being the driest day this week!

We biked there and did a mini tour of the park, amazed to see hardly any litter. The grass looked freshly cut so we imagine they must have cleaned it up for the lawn mower! We were wondering if we should just go home, or find another park, until we came around the left side of the park and noticed the glints of plastic, bottles and cans stuck around the hedges and fence.

So in the end we walked the length of the side, occasionally moving our bikes up as we went, and gathered two full bags of litter! We mainly found candy bar wrappers, crisp packets, the usual cans and bottles (seems people like to stick them in the fence) and some baby wipes. The oddest finds were a broken golf club, a firework and an old hard drive (wonder what was on it??). Also discovered some giant mushrooms, (I didn't pick it, it was already fallen over) I always wonder which ones are edible?

It was a great lunch hour we got; some fresh air, a screen break, friendly chatter, exercise and did some good for our community! :)
