Report written by Bristol runner
A baker's dozen runners traversed 8 km to join the Mayor and the Tidy BS5 group to help clean up the area.
Lovely running conditions today, as evidenced by Matt hitting a PB at Ashton Court to celebrate his 100th parkrun before joining the group for today's task.
A nice gentle run out to the Lawrence Hill/Barton Hill area of town where we met up with Bristol Mayor, Marvin Rees, and a group of volunteers, the Tidy BS5 group, supported by Up Our Street and Bristol Clean Streets, who had arranged to walk around parks and green spaces in the BS5 area, stopping for a quick litter-pick in each location.
We had also been hoping to deliver some flyers in the area for Lifecycle, but with this failing to come to fruition it was (ooh aah) just a litter pick today!
This was a great way to spend the morning as we weaved our way from the Lawrence Hill roundabout, to Urban Park, before dropping down to Netham Park, clearing litter as we went, and with our presence making the group very visible to all in the community.
Find of the day was one by Alice with a discarded fire extinguisher, with Paul close behind with a miniature wheelbarrow!
Our work done, it was then gently bentley back to base, with a number of runners trying to conserve as much energy as possible before the Bristol 10k tomorrow.
Thanks to Lindsey for navigating us to and from the task, with her local knowledge and to Paul for backmarking today.
Good luck to everyone running tomorrow and see you at the task on Tuesday!
Cheers!
