That's it - I'm calling it. Now almost completely dark before we start our group run, Autumn has well and truly arrived. It's officially (drum roll please)...head torch season! Along with pumpkin spice lattes, crunchy leaves underfoot and woolly hats, nothing says the change of season more than digging out the old head torch, lamp or bicycle light.

There was plenty to keep our spirits high despite the growing chill in the air. We got to welcome Chloe and Jacob to their first session in Hounslow - great to heave you join us! We said well done to all the racers recently, especially those who had smashed the local the Ealing Half, and heard all about the amazing muddy task weaving branches on Chiswick eyot at the weekend.

Last night we were back across the road for a task on Turnham Green, so after a short amble across, we were met and given instructions by Friends of Turham Green's chair Jan. She explained that our job for the evening was to scarify the wild meadow to encourage yellow rattle seeds to grow again next year, and to give the soil a bit of light.

With litter picking also to be done we dove straight in to the various jobs. There was many different skill sets and approaches on display. Kymm and Chloe had a very methodical way of covering ground, while Divya could be seen doing some speedy barrowing. Meanwhile Michelle and Jacob tackled the rubbish in the rockery . It was all action for 40 minutes and Jan was really pleased with the outcome.

Tools down we moved over to a well lit part of the green to do our fitness session, which yesterday was all about those legs. We worked through eight different exercises all focusing on glutes, calves, hammies and quads, trying not to imagine what passers by must have been thinking as we did our crab walks across the grass.

Great work everybody, we got a lot done in a well loved public space - and we all get to enjoy the benefits of it come Spring!

Next week we're back for our regular visit to Chiswick House and Gardens and I hope you'll be able to join us.
