A squad of GG Yorkies ran to Huntingdon to help out local charity, Restore.

Nick led out the quicker group and was challenged to complete 10 explosive star jumps and loop everybody back at each kilometre, he did a seriously pro job on this and the faster runners were all looking suitably knackered.

Our task tonight was a varied one to clear out the garden of a property which was owned by the charity to house vulnerable adults. Clearing meant several things, the first of which was to destruct an old set of drawers and a bit of broken wooden fencing that was hanging off. Aidan and Nick went straight in for the destruction with inane grins of glee as they pulled everything apart.

Restore had provided an amazing floodlight that provided loads of light and made the whole task much easier. However, it was completely blinding and impossible to move on account of being hotter than the sun so we just accepted that we would be dazzled instead. It did a great job of lighting up all the ivy which needed pulling up from, well, everywhere. Catherine took on the ivy with vigour and serious intent.

I'm almost certainly going to fall over backwards doing this!

Ellie and Jack removed all the weeds from a small rockery area and made it look beautiful whilst Bob dutifully cleared all the weeds from the cracks in the patio next to it.

In the front garden, a sub-team of five (under the careful supervision of House Manager, Jenni) made short work of clearing all the overgrown plants and weeds - it only took them about ten minutes!

With everyone in the back garden, the green stuff was getting cleared quickly and we filled up three of the biggest, yellowest rubble sacks you've ever seen. If we'd had more time it would have made a brilliant challenge to see how many GG Yorkies we could fit in one, but alas, we were against the clock. As soon as the rubble sacks were dragged through to the front garden, we were off.

As we ran back through Monkgate, we passed a big group who were out on a ghost tour - if a ghastly group of runners in red wasn't scary enough, all the ghoulish noises we made definitely was! We finished up our run with a mini step fitness session on the steps on York Minster where my 20 second timings were under question.

We need to get you an egg timer!

I'm off next week so I'm sure Leanne will be better at all that timing nonsense. Get yourself signed up.
